Warming up

I'm not too sure if I'm doing the right things in my warm up. I've been told two different things regarding my routine so I'm just looking for extra opinions.

I'm only doing cardio, so no weights for me at the moment.

I warm up on the bike for about 10 mins, then I stretch, then I do my full cardio workout, cool down, then stretch.

Is that ok? Or should I be stretching before I warm up? Or is it ok to warm up first, then stretch, but should I be doing jogging or walking - is the bike too intense for a warmup? The warmup is not too fast either, I keep to about 60 - 65 (rpm?) on the bike.

    Thanks :)

dont worry that is being way too pedantic. Cycling is not too much, i mean, what age are you?? 40??

if is fine to run or cycle before you stretch as long it is just a warm up and you are not going 100% or over extending yourself.

you cud also strectch before if you want but you shud really pereodically stretch according to your different levels of intensity

I don't feel like I'm over extending myself on the bike, I'm not going too fast on it. I'm 22, nowhere near 40 :)

ye sorry didnt mean to be carcastic but if somebody is telling you that there is a problem with that they are just being silly.

im 22 aswell and i suppose if you are particularly unfit or prone to muscle problems then maybe you cud stretch before to be on the safe side but it doesnt matter

What you're doing sounds perfect. The important thing is not to stretch 'cold' i.e. before you've warmed up your muscles.

There is some evidence that people who stretch a lot get injured more than those who don't stretch at all.

This may be because serious stretchers have already been injured a few times and are more prone to further injury. So this evidence is probably misleading
