:D ricey, i know its tricky picking out cheltenham ante post horses when the races are so far away, but picking acambo for the supreme novices after the final declarations have been out and he's not amongst them does strike me as being a bit unlucky. At least you wont have lost on the him. Best of luck with the other two.

2:00 Sweet Wake win / Rasharrow ew

I've been trying all last night and this morning to find the winner and I keep coming back to Sweet Wake, he is the one with the ticks in all the boxes today and looks like a class act. Noland and Quatre Heures are both decent animals but would prefer the ground softer. Straw bear is interesting but the way he struggled to win last time out at 2/9 puts me off.

Of the bigger priced horses Rasharrow is one I'd definitely put up each way at around 20/1, if you can forgive his last effort he has to be right up there, a close third in the bumper last year was his best effort to date.

2:35 Voy Put Ustedes Win / Wild Passion ew

I'm not a big Accordion Etoile fan and don't think it's shown enough over fences to win here, Missed that's jumping would put me off him while the fact Racing Demon has been wrapped in cotton wool makes you wonder about his toughness for a race like this.

It's between two for me Foreman and Voy Put Ustedes, Foreman is a former top class hurdler who is more experienced of fences than most of these and will be that bit stronger. He beat some decent horses easily at Lingfield in his latest start. Voy Put Ustedes is only a 5 year old so will be a handy 5lb concession today, he has done noting wrong over fences and will be suited by the ground and is an excellent jumper which is always a huge advantage around Cheltenham. My slight preference is for Voy Put Ustedes.

For an each way bet I have no hesitation in nominatin Wild Passion, word has it he has been in great form at home and has already proven his liking for Cheltenham.

3:15 Brave Inca Win / Asian Maze ew

Not very original but it's very hard to see past Brave Inca, he has done everything right this year, has a proven track record and had AP on board. He's the only one that has no question marks against him.

At a bigger price of 12/1 Asian Maze has definite place claims, she has undoubted stamina and will be staying on up the hill. She might be tapped for a bit of speed which is why feel she will only be placed.

4:00 No Half Session Win / Fork Lightening ew

No half session has been trained for this race, he has been racing over hurdles to keep his handicap mark for today. Conditions should be fine and I can see him being delivered late under Paul Carberry to do the business.

At 16/1 Fork Lightening is a live outsider, has won over the distance at the festival and will relish the ground today, he's a decent jumper and will be thereabouts at the end.

I'll add my thoughts on the final 2 races later.

    2.00 - Straw Bear - win
    2.35 - Racing Demon -win
3.15 - Hardy Eustace - win, have him backed months ago, but doubt he'll win, only backing again as owner is a neighbour!
    4.00 – Dunbrody Millar - e/w

I was also looking at Fork Lightening today, its good value but again it is an extremely difficult race to pick a winner, about 10 at least could win this.

Sweet Wake is extremely poor value. Its far from a dead cert. I wont be selecting it, I think we should be going for EW value in this race. For a horse to be this short is such a competitive race is rediculous. The same goes for Brave Inca. Its obviously got the best chance but at 7/4 its not worth backing. Macs Joy and Al Eile are better EW bets perhaps. 7/4 and 9/4 in these races is madness, it wont be hard for the bookies to make money today. Their prices are pathetic.

The ground look a hell of a lot softer than Good, it was no surprise to see soft ground horses first and second. Sublimity was a tad unlucky not to be placed, he was pulled out wide on the last bend by the loose horse and had a lot of ground to make up.

I had Don't Be Shy ante-post in the arkle, I'd almost given up on him as he needs soft ground, it's looking a lot more promising now.

I was just looking at that. It is on the move in the right direction alrite. Betting not too favourable for Accordian

Thats my second tip today. Shouldn't be too far away. pipe will have lots of winners, hes starting to come into great form. Thats Ruby Walsh's winner for today I would say.

Brave Inca is no banker but should go close.

Hedgehunter on Friday will probably be my SNAP - that hill at the end elimates pace. Its stamina that counts.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!:D

Anyone want to take a bet that this one is going to be a cracker of a race

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,956 ✭✭✭✭Villain

quick question, if you write down the odd's on a slip and the odds go up do you get paid at the higher odds.

    e.g.

I put €20 on Hardy back in Jan and my slip says 4/1 if he comes in at 6/1 do I get paid at 4/1 or 6/1?

Not generally, some bookies will give you the better price though, you'd have to check with the individual bookie.

Tullow will go wild if he makes it 3 in a row, come on Lar N Hardy!!!!!!

Yep, it's only the first 3 in non handicap races regardless of the number of runners. There is a section on their website detailing the different types of race and place amounts, it's under the help section.
