Hi, I didnt know where else to put this so i said i'd chance here.

I'm due to go paintballing next week and i'm looking for a set of sturdy gloves to protect my hands.

I broke two fingers in my left hand in a car crash in november and the doctor told me they were going to be weak for about a year and that any really hard bangs could break them again.

So what i'm looking for is a pair or reinforced gloves to try avoid this from happening.

Ideally im looking for a pair that cut off around the middle finger joint with a metal plate of something up the back of my hand inside the glove.

I dont know if such a thing exists and google isnt returning anything.

If anyone could recommend a pair of gloves or if they knew where I could pick up a pair somthing like I described I would be delighted.

    Thanks in advance

Try searching for gauntlet. They use special gloves in hospitals for handling bags of used needles, they went under the name gauntlets.

Not having much joy on that rubadub - all i'm getting is mainly welders gauntlets, BSDM gear and medieval metal gauntlets. Thanks anyway.

    Anyone have anyother suggestions ?

Motorbike gloves would be worth a try you can get them with carbon fibre plates to reinforce them

Try a motor bike shop. You mightn't find ones with a steel reinforcement but you should be able to find ones with hard plastic.

    Thanks everyone.
Hard plastic would do fine - just need something to keep the main force off my hand should it take a shot - are these expensive ?

You should be able to pick up a pair for €20 or so

Well folks, searched the entire place and no joy.
Anything suitable was too heavy and chunky , and everything else was too light and flimsy.
    Ill keep on searchin' though.
    Thanks for the help all.

You could do what Boxers, MMA fighters etc do and wrap your hand. You dont need ot go crazy just get some surgical tape (rather than "crepe bandage"). You could even splint your fingers if you want. Failing that you could try 1st floor in elveries sports in Dublin. THey have a selection of hockey and hurling gloves that should do the trick for you? Dont be afraid to cut the materials yourself and gaffertap it to your hand. You could even try a Harbinger MMA glove.
