How would you describe this?

Long time reader but have only just registered.

A few weeks ago there was a thread that went something along the lines of 'Every Irish girl who thinks she is curvy is just plain fat & delusional'

Yet, no one could actually describe what curvy was & it left me thinking well I've no idea what curvy is then.

So I've posted a picture of an ordinary person to see if we can get a general consensus. (To give the rest of us a scale to base ourselves on)

So, how would you describe the person in this picture?

(No need for abuse that will result in this thread getting locked, just your honest opinion)

She doesn't have a face for Test purposes!!

    Ye're not getting the idea

Heinrich:- That's my point. what's Ordinary?
Is it fat, curvy or what?

That's what I'm looking for & the reasons why you say whatever you say

She looks like a healthy, curvy woman to me tbh..

she looks great. but if I started talking to her and she started saying "oh my god I'm so fat, I need to lose weight" then she'd be kicked to the curb, girlfriend. *snaps fingers*

There are thousands of girls who look like your "sample" all over the place. There are very few Rosanna Davisons or Groucho Marx eyebrowed Glendas around so ordinary it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

Please someone.... send her back into the water.

A bit too much flab on the hips and no tone to the stomach at all. I'd say theres less 'give' in The Bog of Allen than her belly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭Binomate

Plump, but not fat and not curvey. Somewhere in between. It's a little hard to judge because there's a good portion of meat in the water that would make it a lot easier to tell if she has a bit of flab around the waist. (upps)

Jeez Heinrich, you really don't get the OPs point, do you!!!

He/She(???) wants to know what Boardsters view as being fat / curvy, so posted a pic as an example.

Not so that you can say there's loads like that (Loads of what? Loads of curvy or loads of fat girls??? That's what I think the OPs trying to get at)
Obviously the person in the pic is not a Supermodel!!

I think the person in the photo is curvy

Most girls are curvy like the girl with no face in the photo! That's pretty obvious so the OP's question is nonsense.

    SO:

Curvy = not fat nor skinny = normal

She is curvy and really nice, but I imagine exactly the type who would complain cause she is not skin and bones.

Curvy is the best but only if she is happy being curvy cause there is nothing worse than a moaner.

She looks like she could tone up a bit i wouldn't call her fat. A bit plump.

Same way women who call fat or plump people (like in that photo) curvy make us men ****ing sick. :) Maybe if they went to the gym to loose a few pounds they might start to see some results, instead of ignoring reality.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,577 ✭✭✭Heinrich

I would use the photo as a scale

    On the left = 0
    On the right = 10
    The OP's girl = 5

    Ordinary. :D

I agree, the face is completely out of focus and her hair looks wirey and lacks volume.

Talk about having it completely backwards...
As people have said the girl in the picture you've posted is not the average! And the fact you can see the curve in her ass because of her non-exitenet underwear and her probable implants does not mean curvy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,991 ✭✭✭el tel

The girl in the sample looks like she's sucking her tummy in and pushing her chest out so maybe the water is cold. I'd say she was well below Rubenesque, possibly with a BMI of 23-24, so body-wise quite conventional.

Yes it does. If she looks curvy then she is curvy. Curvey is not fat, just because the average is fat.

    Cool,

Thanks for the input so far!

I could have used a pic of a curvacious model for this thread, but my point was:- A recent thread said pretty much there were no curvy Irish girls, just fat ones.
So I picked an Irish girl & asked the question is this what you meant when you said fat Irish girls or would you consider this girl to be curvy.

This is not a 'would you do her' thread & I could be wrong, but I get the feeling that some posters are taking their personal tastes into consideration when replying.
I'm not interested in whether or not you like how the girl looks (maybe you're into stick insects, who knows), but just a fair response in that when you have a mental image of an overweight (fat) ordinary person, is the girl in this photo what pops into you head, or is she more what you'd imagine if thinking of an ordinary everyday curvy girl.

It's stupid & pointless to post up professional pics of models as a 'no, this is what curvy is', because, yes, it may be curvy, but the model has the right lighting, the right clothes, the right pose to flatter as much as possible.
The girl in the pic is prob on hols, standing for a pic on prob a stupid disposable camera.

Haven't you ever seen really unflattering pics of you sexiest superstars taken by paparazzi when they're on hols & not posing for their pics?

Oh my God.Seriously are you trying to be slow?
The average is not fat! That would be your first mistake.
The average is...average.Which people with some sensitivity would call curvy.Fat is fat;more than curvy, overweight.Thin is less than curvy, underweight.

She's isn't fat but who cares anyway. If you are happy in your own skin then who cares what a couple of blokes on a message board think. Some people hate any fat at all and some people hate someone who is skin and bone!

She's not exactly 'Fat' but she could certainly do with a few more hours in the gym every week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 395 ✭✭Dermington

She is not obese but she is certainly more than a little above her optimal body weight. Enough above it to make it very noticeable to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Her arms and shoulders are fairly slim, I would say she is no more then a size 12/14, which is just below average for women in Ireland and the UK.

I would just describe her figure as perfectly average.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 58 ✭✭Jumanji

She's actually a very comfortable (room to spare) size 10

I don't think there is anything wrong with her figure, I think she looks good.

Its actually really hard to tell people's sizes. People always think I am a 10 or a 12 in jeans but in some stores I would wear a size 16. I always wear a 12 in a dress. skirt or a top so its all a bit confusing. There ain't a pick on me though, well just a little. :D

Yeah, looks normal to me. Not fat, not skinny, but yes I'd say curvy, but having said curvy, I'd also say normal because that's what most people look like.

Some people in this thread seem to have vastly incorrect notions of what women should look like! (eg someone saying she was fat and flubbery?! I mean come on...how did you get on in Mr. Universe then? )

It has been highly documented that the average weight is ever increasing. I believe there was an article in the paper yesterday about obese children. Our nation is getting fatter.

A curve is a shape, not another word for average. Let's just say 20 years from now the average weight for women is 15 stone. Does that mean that anyone who is in and around 15 stone is curvy? If a woman is fat, she's fat. She's not curvy unless she has the shape. Yes, there may be fat women who look curvy, they are non-the less fat. Equally there may be skinny women with curves like Jessica Alba etc.
