Assuming I can get a job, I'll be working full-time for most of it, and then going to Italy with my girlfriend for a week in August. Not very exciting!

I'd like to go interrailing, but I can't do both due to moneyness! And I have to pay off my laptop too, dang...!

Scope out the prices for interrailing though
    http://www.interrail.com/home.asp?AFF=IRI

Only €200 for one zone (which can be about 6 countries!) for 16 days... That's pretty good value if you ask me! You'd need to add on the flights to and from Europe, though, and then food and accomodation (but presumably you'd be staying in hostels, so you'd save there).

I'd love to do it though, probably goin on a J1 next summer, but some time in the future! I like the whole freedom aspect of it... If it all goes pear-shaped and you're homeless, you can just hop on a train and try and get some sleep there, and wake up somewhere else :p Don't have to worry about hotels or any of that lark, you just go where the wind takes you, so to speak!

F*ck the girlfriend, I'm goin interrailing! :D lol

Any boardsies plannin on a J1 next year, to New York? :)

finish PhD, take the as much of summer off as I can before I enter the big bad world of Enterprise Applications and Technology Consulting.

Woot! The Real World here I come!

I'm currently keeping my fingers crossed that there's a position in my workplace during the summer so I can earn a sh!tload of cash which will mean I won't have to work during 2nd year of college.

Interailing with friends was on the agenda but it appears I haven't been consulted about anything to do with it so I might give it a miss and instead go to America the summer after. Probably go to Oxegen again and maybe go to Electric Picnic which I've heard is frickin' deadly.

Sell my soul so that I have enough money to pay my fees next year. I'm applying for internships, and still gonna be a video game wench.

Probably head away somewhere with the girlfriend for a while, see if I can finally do something with a band and try to whore out some drumming lessons to beginner children for an extortionate price

I'm still undecided between America and Interrailing. I have a job in France for as long as I want to will probably do that for a while, get the cash and do something fun.

Toss up between Australia or Morroco for a month in august.
Every year I go travelling with me mates and I just feel like I want to go off by myself this year and do my own thing so im not always relying on my mates.Think its about time I went away by myself too at this stage.
Reallly want to go to Morroco but cant see my rents letting me go off there cos its meant to be a bad place to for girls to go by themselves.Australia on the other hand is meant to be pretty brill by yourself-i dunno?I'm confused:confused:

I'm getting my jaw broken in June and will spend the rest of the summer on a liquid diet and recovering. I'll also be working fulltime and every spare second I get so I can get car! Meanwhile all my friends are gonna be off cavorting in New York on a J1...

Especially blonde girls. It's a lovely place, with lovely people but when I was there, they were all VERY friendly with my blonde sister, just cos blonde hair is so unusual there.

Ohman do it! You won't regret it. You meet so many people there who are travelling by themselves. Australia is amazing and I can't wait to go back.

My summer will consist of trying to get a job, probably moving in with the boyfriend and starting to save for a year in New Zealand. Oh and a few weekends away around Europe.

Join NGO, PlanUK, start 6 months internship in their London offices, then get sent to some random corner of the globe that is in a poor enuff position that it would actually welcome the help of a jaded old socialist such as myself...

My money's on Kenya, any takers?

Dont go to Morrocco - it's a lovely place, and I was there with the family when I was younger, but even as a 14 year old I got way too much hassle off pervy 30-something guys. They have some issue with the blonde hair like, gets annoying after a while. I'd say Australia would be great fun - one opf my friends has just started doing a masters there so some trips over are in order for me :p

As for this summer...I'll be stuck over the northside doing my masters project the whole time - would love to do a J1 or something like that though :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,055 ✭✭✭snickerpuss

The J1 is my idea of hell, i've to go to the gaeltacht next week for a week and i'm dreading it! I like home.
Summer - job, maybe go away somewhere. Can't see anyone employing me though.

Well it turns out that I may be doing something this summer afterall.

The boyfriend has been invited to a family wedding on the 10th of June (day before my birthday). While initially horrified at the prospect of meeting all the relatives at the one time, I became more open to the idea once I found out where it was......Brisbane, Australia.

So the plan is to head over on the 4/5th of June (sisters wedding on the 2nd of June) and make two weeks of it.

I can't wait to go back to Melbourne!

Then going to Prague and Amsterdam for a week and a half.
