Hey all, in a bit of a situation,
Ive decided to finally start working on my gym/shed properly, alls well apart from the floor, its hard concrete which is good, but gathers dust n dirt which is bad, ive made do with it for the past few years but wud like to get some mats for the floor , esp around the punchin bag..any ideas on where to find them in dublin?

Are you talking about rubber mats to protect the floor and your weights from damage. Argos do them. You buy a few mats and they interlock. Gymratz in the UK also do rubber mats and they are probably better than the argos ones but you will pay a bit for shipping as they are heavy. Another one I've heard of is also garage trainers buying rubber livestock mats from farm supply places :D I think these mats are intended for stables so that horses don't have to stand on a rock hard floor and to make hosing out sh1t easier.

But if you don't need the shock absorption of rubber mats then why not look at just getting some cheap lino for your shed.

    nice one brian thanks,
ah was thinking that aswell, maybe a combination of both, the benches are on thick pieces of wood salvaged from the old kitchen, 3 or 4 big pieces, but the concrete is just a nightmare! wil give the lino a try and never even thot of argos, will check them out, 10ft x 20ft, such a pain to sort out ah well:P
    thanks again man

No probs, and definitely check out the livestock/stall mats, I wasn't joking when I suggested them. A quick search of the misc.fitness.weights newsgroup finds reports of them being bigger, thicker, cheaper and better than the mats sold in fitness places.
