Windows media player problems

Everytime I try to download windows media player for the mac i have a problem, not with the downloading but the installing part. Everytime I try to download windows media player for the mac i have a problem, not with the downloading but the installing part. After the download the icon to install the player is a microsoft excell icon, which is kinda odd. When I click on it to start installing my laptop starts to load up excell and seeing as how I only have the demo version which has now expired, I don't get far.
Is it supposed to install using excell? or is it just my computer being crazy?
