Why is it so addictive?

    Training that is....

Joined a gym near work last May, and have been going 3-4 times a week since then. The first few months were probably a waste of time in that I didn't really know to concentrate on form, separation of muscle groups, getting enough protein in the diet etc, but in the last couple of weeks I've really noticed that the results are definitely starting to show, albeit only slightly but at least it's something.

But how come it's so addictive! I'm really getting into it, every day I'm heading to the gym I'm looking forward to it, and I feel great in the afternoon after the lunchtime session. The more I go, the more I want to go!

    Endorphins rock don't they?!??! :D

But yeah, it is addictive on so many levels. Fact is, you're doing something that has so many health, mental and emotional benefits I'd be here till tomorrow describing them, and when you see these improvements you make to yourself you can't help wanting more!!! Glad to hear you're enjoying it so much ;)

Becuase you have found the secret to sucess in the gym. You enjoy it. If i had my way people who don't enjoy the gym would not be allowed in!!! I hate looking around and seeing scowly faces and bad attitudes because someone feels that going to the gym is a chore. If its such a chore then don't go!!! Or find something that keeps you active that you like doing!!! Don't stomp around the gym all cranky because you will end up on my list of protein sources!!!!!!

All the best with your goals dude glad to see your lovin' it!

cheers for the words of encouragement both of you!

Although Dragan I have to admit some of the time I'd say I have a scowl on my face in the gym alright, borne out of pure effort!

Dang, I thought you were all talking about Ferrero Rocher ;)

But if you do come up with an anti-scowl elixir, joker, please let me be the first to know!

Glad I'm not going to the same gym as Dragan! If I did, I'd probably apply Botox beforehand to maintain a permanent grin whilst on the treadmill...

in which case the powerlifters would have flip-top mouths - no need for a Reach toothbrush!

pfft. don't listen to him, he's a complete chatter-box in the gym, always has to be giving his opinions on something, or talking about food, or trying to convince me that he has a better bum than his training partner :D

    which i do.

And this chatter boxed talked you into a certain deadlift so i guess something about my spotting works, eh? :D

once again, I am not going to comment on this. It would ruin your ego to know where I stand on it :p

yeah, well, I guess that's true.. or maybe just watching your 'all-arse-and-elbows' technique put me into such a good mood I couldn't help but lift heavy!!! ;)

there's really nothing I can think of to say to that.

joker77- be careful, this is the kind of effect that heavy lifting and prolonged gym exposure will have on you, and self-dilusion is only one of the milder side effects... :D

I'ld rather be happily self-deluded than an unhappy realist.

I'll keep that in mind g'em - although I'm not really in the category of heavy lifting (yet anyway!). So what are the not so mild side effects?

ha ha - I've noticed a couple of people pepped up.... what time do you go at then? I'm there lunchtimes which is rushed, usually just get in, do my stuff and get out! Mauro is fairly cool, if he's there and there's no class on he'll let you hang up the punch bag, as long as you've your own gloves. Some days it's great to just hit the bag for a while!
