Good evening lady and gentlemen. I have a clicky thing in my knee, I allways have. I would be climbing the stairs and when I stretch out my right leg it goes "click". I usually tell it to be quiet but it never listens.

Lately it has been feeling a little bit weak. I am watching my form when squatting and doing all leg excersises. Now its not sore, but it is clicking alot, and it feels a bit funny. More like a tickle than billy connolly, but funy all the same.

My brother has this as I remember when we were growing up back on the prairy I could hear him coming up the stairs as I was rooting through his room so I could run and hide. He has never had anything done about it, and when I spoke to a physio about it she gave me three possibilities that confusled me, so I dont think she had a clue.

Has anyone got a simialar story they would like to share? Or any advice for me?

    Moochos Graciose

If its not causing any pain its probably a displaced ligament (i'm not a doctor though) same thing happens to my one of my ankles when a point my foot its click quite loudly which can sound bvery out of place in the middle of a routine.

Clicking could indicate a lack of lubrication around the joint. Try taking Udos oil for a few weeks and see if that helps.

Have the same thing in my right shoulder. It doesnt cause me any pain or discomfort, its just ..... strange.

My knees click now and again, but when they do, its comes as a sort of relief.

I'm the EXACT same! My left knee is slightly worse than my right, but they both click all the same.. My right wrist is worn out too, gets realy sore in cold/rainy weather.. What can I do to help heal this, does anyone know?

I used to have really clicky joints - pretty much all of them. I've found Glucosamine & Chondritin to be very helpful.

I get "the clicks" when I do the leg press, it's not too audible then. However, when I hunker down for everyday things they can click fairly loudly. Will try oiling them I guess :p.

A course of acupuncture sessions sorted the "click problem" for me three years back (that, and regular intake of milk).

Mind you, the clicks are back again (even when I just squat down to put a DVD into the player) but unfortunately the time and funds to address them are not!!

The clicking is usually caused by bubbles of air in the synovial fluid. This is the fluid that bathes the joints and keeps the bones from rubbing off each other.Clicking noises in the joints are usually perfectly normal but accompanied by pain or a lack of mobility they could be early indicators of arthritis.Take cod liver oil if you're worried, chances are it'll go away by itself.

My jawbones click too. I really wish they wouldn't.

Rule of thumb with clicking joints is that if it doesn't hurt don't worry about it. Most of the time it is just gas escaping from the synovial joint as Degsy explained. The gas acts as a cushion and builds back up after a short length of time.

However if the clicking has intensified since you have changed your lower limb weights programme it may be an indication that you have a slight imbalance with your quad muscles.

The quad muscles are responsible for holding the patella (kneecap) in the right position as well as causing knee flexion and some hip flexion. If there is an imbalance between the quad muscles especially the Vastus Lateralis (on the outside of the thigh) and other structures and the vastus medialis (on the inside of the thigh), the knee cap can tend to 'click' over the underlying thigh bone and cause wear and tear of the underside of the patella over time.

It may be worth getting it checked out by a professional (physiotherapist, sports rehabilitator, athletic trainer etc.) just to rule out a muscular imbalance and/or excessive wear and tear of the patella.

I was in pilates last night. My neck and both pelvic bones were clicking. I already take fish oils. Are you sure it's from lack of lubrication?

Me has a clicky left knee as well. I feel like I'm finally part of a crowd..... sniff....

Altho my knee hurts when it stays bent at a 90 degree angle for a long period of time which makes going to a cramped cinema/flight literally a pain.
