this is a load of crap

they've latched onto them being touted as playing in italy and now download(and even this isn't 'confirmed'), wait until you see it on a website like download's one then start getting my hopes up :)

plus they wouldn't play with sh*tly crue, there is no way axl would.

Right so the official ad this morning was a load of crap eh?? What **** are you spouting.. I never post rumours - only post when I actually hear the official news... They said ticket prices & when they were going on sale, but missed that as I was driving!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

€65 for two well past it bands, one of who shouldn't even be going by their original name anymore? No thanks.

And Axel will turn up ****faced, four hours late.

What a suprise, and I was thinking how am I gonna get to Donington:v: :v:

Bit strange to see Motley Crue supporting them thought they hated each other?

I wouldn't mind checking out the new GNR if they had a good support band, it would have been worth the admission but motley crue! I think I'll keep my money until deftones come to Ireland!!!:D

Wont be missing this one :D

mark my words - this won't happen.

it'll only be confirmed when axl does some kind of interview with kurt loader

also in my previous post i said that they had it on download's website - but from years of following gn'r i know not to trust greedy promotors!

i went to london 2001 on a promotors whim (had ryanair tix so i couldn't not go) axl came out and said he never gave any go ahead for a 2001 tour

i then went to leeds 2002, when they did actually play it

    ge*bag

and you will be waiting a while for them.

However upon reflection there better be more then just the 2 bands playing as again that doesnt justify the high ticket price alone

http://www.ticketmaster.ie/?tm_link=tm_home_f1 - tickets go on sale this saturday

He is right to be cautious until I'm standing in the RDS and listening to the intro to Welcome to the Jungle will I be happy, there will be a potential for this to be cancelled

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 196 ✭✭colincarnate

i had ticketmaster tickets in my hand in london 2001 man

have you been following the whole chin dem thing for the last 8 or so years?

if you have then you'll know about the whole cancellation craic and greedy promoters, and you'll know that my 'apparant' harsh statements like : "...this won't happen..." aren't all too new or shocking.

Oh sweet jesus... the chin dem thing is about Axl's idea of the perfect album.
This is about them playing a gig here in June

Let me put it this way - last time GNR said they would play Ireland, they did play Ireland (this was back in Slane Castle for those of you too young to remember)

Anyone can say "oh this might be cancelled", but that can happen with any gig

Far too sensible to waste money on it...

this like anyother gig could of course be cancelled......but the fact that they have been confirmed for a series of dates across Europe this summer is usually a good indication that a tour has been booked..........

Saw Motley Crue in Orlando in Sept, they are very far from being past it.......they put on a really good show, far better than most bands I've seen over the last few years......
can't comment on this carnation of G'n'R but Axl was the voice of the band, so with a group of competent musicians behind him it should also be a good show.........

I know this thread will just turn into another rubbish slagging off the bands thing.......if people have no interest in seeing them fine, and don't bother bitching about it.......the more gigs like this that Ireland gets the more chance there is of bands like AC/DC returning to our shores (as long as the other gigs get good turnouts).....:)

i'd say it'll be outdoor yes...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

    definitely outdoor......

holds around 40,000.........June 9th.....if there's good weather this will be great (of course the sound will be dodgy as always in the RDS)....

mmmm, this and metallica within 2 days of each other! That's a spicey meatballa!!

If they don't play estranged, i'll probably cry.. I will die happy at that moment though if they did:D

Can anyone tell me what the line up of the band is now, last I heard it was Axl, Izzy and that weird geezer Buckethead.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 196 ✭✭colincarnate

Axl and Slash made a pact never to play Estranged without each other, sorry mate.

Band is Axl and Dizzy, Buckethead left a good while ago.

They've got a session guitarist who was on the road with Enrique Ingeleius among other pop dudes

Robin Fink still i think, ex-NIN lad i think

    Brain on drums ex-Primus

bunch of other guys, as programmers and additional keyboardists

    Tommy Stinson aswell on bass

who knows Axl might be on Lead guitar aswell!

i know i said "last post" earlier

    but

i know any concert can cancell, but can any concert that has never been given the direct go-ahead by the main man cancel? - Yes, only GN'F'R! what makes it so good.
i'm waiting for gnronline.com to post then i'll believe it, and that won't even update if they tour - i love it!

This is gonna one memorable weekend. Guns n Roses Friday, Metallia Sunday. Alot of money sure but I wouldn't miss it for anything! This will be the last time you have a chance to see some form of Guns n Roses live. Make the most of it everyone.

GNR Friday ... Metallica Sunday ... who's on the Saturday?!

Any rumours as to who's headlining the Friday in Donnington? Odds on that's they play RDS on the Saturday!

if it happens like that, and I hope it seriously does. it means Tool and Deftones which would be the highlight of my year

The Eagles are already playing Lansdowne on Saturday. Have to be a bit if risk anyone who trys to slip a gig in on Saturday too.. I know they're a different genre and that but thats my opinion anywho

Probably but its de "Crue" I want to see :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,914 ✭✭✭✭tbh

I wouldn't mind seeing the crue either, if I'm honest. Forget about whats cool and whats not, if they both play as they have done in the past, could be a smokin - SMOKIN! - gig. That said, having seen Mick Marrs recently, it might be a bit more laid back :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Rockee

Excellent! Some good ol' sleazy rock n roll in the RDS on the 9th of June! G n R and the Crue...heaven! As for all the people who think its going to be cancelled, dont be so bloody negative. That poor guy who flew to London only for to gig to cancel...it doesnt happen every day.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,914 ✭✭✭✭tbh

sure fingers crossed. If I'm going, I'll buy my ticket on the day I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

it's a good thing anyway, first time I think (memory ain't great these days) that they brought over more than one headliner from the festival......
If there was something on the Sat it would be cool, would mean plenty of choice for everyone......

Are Tool rumoured to be headlining the Friday or just on the bill for the festival ?
they are not my cup of tea at all, love the video's but they bored me silly when I saw them live.......might just not have been in the mood at the time they came on......

Mark Knopfler is playing the sat also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Rockee

True...it could be a crazy night that night with the Eagles/Mark Knopfler playing too elsewhere. They might be a different style of music to GNR and Motley Crue but a lot of people go to gigs for the 'event' and to have a good time which is fair enough. Eitherway, lets all have a good night regardless!:D
