Installing apps in Fedora

I'm missing something fundamental here guys, so if anyone can help me out I'd be grateful.

I've done a bare install of Fedora 4 on the laptop. Downloaded and installed the RPM for Winamp. All seems to go well but there is no icon for it on any of the drop-down menus. I have to navigate to the /usr/local/Winamp directory and manually start it up via a text file of sorts. The very same thing happens when I downloaded and installed the RPM for RealPlayer.

I'm new to installing applications like this, so please be gentle?

    Many thanks.
