I've been trying to lose weight recently and I've started doing more exercise rather than cut down hugely on my food intake. I walk for about 45 minutes most days and go to the gym and do an hour of cardio twice a week. But since I've started, I've put on half a stone. Is this muscle weight or is it something else? I haven't noticed a reduction in my size but my clothes still fit fine so I'm confused. Any ideas?

In theory it sounds like your doing it right but its probably in the practice thats its gone wrong. Can you post age weight height bf and exact diet and we can help a bit better.

    Age: 19
Weight: 11 stone (up from 10 and a half)
    Height: 5'5

Diet: Pretty balanced, usually, except I tend to overdo it a bit on junk food. Breakfast is usually cereal like Cheerio's with semi-skimmed milk (which I only use to wet the cereal and always end up throwing out most of), lunch is generally soup (homemade or as close to as possible, eg. O' Briens), a sandwich (Subway usually) or beans on toast depending on my budget. Dinner tends towards pasta with cheese sauce, sometimes with garlic bread. Other times it's chicken or fish with potatoes.

Snacks are usually a bar of chocolate or toast. I've been trying to up my intake of fruit recently too.
