Yet again!! Can they get anything right???
    Community Update - 2/20/06

    Listen up Troops,

Although patch 1.2 included several fixes that we know were eagerly awaited, it unfortunately introduced some new issues. These are being addressed immediately and we are working around the clock to resolve those. Patch 1.21 (coming soon) will be tested in a limited beta with select Battlefield community members starting as early as this week. We’re doing this to ensure a clean release of 1.21. In addition, we have decided to postpone the Euro Force Booster Pack until sometime after the release of the updated 1.21 patch.

Stick to this web space for additional information soon.

On a more pleasant note, Battlefield 2 hit somewhat of a milestone last night with over 52,000 simultaneous players. This is the highest number of players we’ve seen at one time for Battlefield 2 and almost 4 times more than the peak number of Battlefield 1942.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

The team at DICE and EA

Ok, who didnt know this was coming?

Seriously, im impressed they're on it nice and quick. Im sick of the new bugs. The hit registration for projectiles is shit. I've seen plenty of rockets go through jeeps, and Im tired of DEAD ACCURATE TV missiles passing right through the enemy chopper.

Now that I think of it, it could just be crap netcode.

I believe screenshots are broken too.

Yep they are indeed, they had enough beta testers and no one reported these bugs? idiots!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

You know they could fix and release these patches in a day or two! but there lazy ****s!

I think they were all too busy making sneak preview videos of the patch.

...and adjusting their clan's tactics to the modifications.

The BF2.exe file is about 7MB. Considering that it doesn't hold the games resources (sound, textures) its a whopper of an EXE file. If it was smaller they could probably slip it in when we're logging into BF2.

Predator anti-tank missile goes straight through enemy tanks

Same with tows apparently. On sharqui last night, bottom right yank tow, fired a tow at rthe tank threads and it went through the tank, got off the tow, hid jump back after reload time fired again and it went through the tank. Tows and rockets going through only seems to happen close range. One good thing came of it on the 2nd one, i got a jeep behind the tank:)

I meant mention that Rope, I have a theory. I think that bug occurs if the Tv missile is fired at the same time as the pilot is firing his missiles. I havn't remembered it enough actually check, but thinking over when its happened me, imfairly sure it was always in a busy moment. We can try an experiment later.

if you make an exe file, or download one, it's usually about 3-5mb. this holds every piece of information needed (eg. installers) for that program. but bf2.exe doesn't hold all the information needed for battlefield2. it just ties everything together in code. consider a 7mb .txt, imagine how many lines it would take to reach that size...

his point (i think) is that there's a lot of code there. change one thing and something else is adversely affected, so it's quite difficult to change a few lines and NOT have something else change.

that said, DICE/EA have quite a lot of resources, you'd think they'd figure this stuff out before release

dunno about you lot be the load\verify time gets even longer with each patch. That and when its supposidly loaded and i click join i cant play for about 30 seconds as its still loading and frame rate dropt to baout 1 frame every 2 seconds.

What surprises me is that , after reading the 'bug' lists last night , I haven't seen any mention of a new 'memory leak' , yet I am hearing ppl talking on irc and ts and I definitely have a problem myself . Thing is , I ain't the most tech minded , and I am left to presume it is a memory leak , as it is doing the same as it was when everyone was complaining about said leak .

ie: after playing for a while it starts to lag a bit even though my ping is fine , and also it take a bit of time to regain control of my pc after shutting down the game .

I agree with ya there scruff, load time is ok for me now but hte verify time is crazy, then when i do get going there is some terrible lag for bout 5-10 secs at initial spawn but its gone then for the rest of the game

well it has always taken quite a bit of time for me to get control of my PC back when I exit BF2, say 20-30secs

yeah same here. bf2 is a hog... however, when loading up a game it's gotten quicker for me, same with verifying. even though it pauses at 62% (geometries) every single time for about 10seconds.

Was the same for me then after the 1.12( or whatever it was ) it became shorter , but it has gone back up now after this 1.2 patch .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,425 ✭✭✭jonski

Also , had anyone else noticed that if you alt+tab out of the game while loading the map , when you go back in the graphics are all screwed up prompting a bf2 restart .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,393 ✭✭✭✭Vegeta

i don't think i've ever alt+tab out of a live game as I'm afraid i'll be nailed, so i usually disconnect from the server if I need to alt+tab, ya could try that

If I alt-tab out, the amount of time it takes to get to the desktop and the amount of time it takes to get back in, is roughly equal to how long it takes to load a map.

Such a good game I hope they sort it sooner rather than later.

Also nice1 zillah with the movie of the oilfire bug, that was class!
