Just found out from another site the godfather of "slit your wrists music" is playing the Marquee Festival Cor June 29th.
    http://www.rogerwaters.org/2006-current.html#FEB06

I saw him on the In The Flesh tour in dublin almost 4 years ago and it was indeed a spectacle.

Did he play much Floyd when he was here last time?

And what are the chances he'll play Dublin? I know some of the acts that played the Marquee last year played a small venue in Dublin (Al Green and Brian Wilson). Well he's touring that new opera that he's written so I cant imagine that being played in Vicar St!

Caught the last show (glastonbury) of his tour, I'd say a good 75% of it was floyd stuff, with Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking and one or two from Amused To Death thrown in as well... there was nothing I didn't recognize anyway and those two are his only solo albums that are worth owning.

They all seem to be festival shows or big open air events by the looks of it... so I can't imagine a Point gig would be in the pipeline, although there is a big gap between the tel aviv gig on the 20th and the cork show on the 29th which hopefully will be filled :)

Quite a lot. However, if you like Pink Floyd I recomend his solo albums. They're brilliant.

Ya he plays a load of Floyd tracks. And the gig i went to in the point a few years ago was mainly Floyd tracks. It was brilliant in fairness, his guitarists re-enacted the comfortably numb solo on top of 'The wall'. Loads of video on a big screen and graphics n stuff. Brilliant!:D

He plays a relatively long show so there won't necessarily be support. There wasn't in the point. The show was about two and a half hours long.

sure bands like bon jovi regularly play 3 hour sets and they usually have 2 supports bands:confused:

Probably not for another month or two, news broke cause it was posted on the roger waters site. This is part of a number of gigs at the marquee, so doubt they'll go on sale until some of the other acts have been confirmed.

These are all seperate gigs in a marquee over about a 2 week timeframe. Roughly last week of June into first week of July, different acts every night. See Evil Sausage link above.

Marquee is pretty decent, very big, a lot bigger than that tent that used to tour for the Heineken gigs. I heard some people say the sound was a bit echoing up the back but i was towards the front last year and thought the sound was pretty good.

Apparently, according to what i heard on the radio, he'll be playing dark side of the moon from start to finish at the start of the show

    €70? Fuck that.

Would be a great surprise if Dylan or Young played, but not at €70. Robert Plant for €50 is a tad much aswell.

Its expensive alright but it was the same story last year, they know people down this end of the country will pay it since the equivalent trip to Dublin to see the acts would be much more expensive. I think Aiken make a killing on it, they wouldn't be doing it again this year otherwise.

dunno if i'll go now. would love to see him, but €75?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,144 ✭✭✭LundiMardi

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,144 ✭✭✭LundiMardi

Hotpress have confirmed that Bob Dylan is to play the Marquee.

    Anyone have more information?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭comet

yeah he's confirmed but the promoter doesn't have the exact date yet, will be announced as soon as they do. The Marquee runs in the last week of June and the first week of July, by crossing off the days already booked you could probably narrow it down a bit more.

Hey guys .. Roger Waters is on in Cork during the summer. where is the Showgrounds venue where its on? is it central to cork city?

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,904 ✭✭✭parsi

Its beside Pairc Ui Chaoimh and about 15 minutes walk from town,..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,269 ✭✭✭kc66

Was pondering on how expensive tickets are to this when I was offered a free one, free accom and a lift to Cork. Yippeee!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 191 ✭✭jimmidy_cricket

You jammy git kc66! I just spent 150.00 (that I don't have) for two tickets for my fellas birthday thats not even till April and then what the hell are we gonna do/stay in Cork?! I sorta got hyper when I heard about it and rang ticket master straight away with my creditcard...i didn't really think it through very well..ooops!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,269 ✭✭✭kc66

It will be worth it though. Price of any tickets in this country is gone mad in the last few months especially. It will probably soon be €100 for any concert.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 191 ✭✭jimmidy_cricket

Feckin sure it'll be worth it. Mind you, wouldn't it be great if Gilmore joined him, god that'd make it so worth it. Could you imagine it? Roger giving it socks on a solo and out strolls Gilmore from the wings, it'd be mass hysteria, I'd probably pee myself with excitement or puke I sometimes vomit if im too excited! Can't wait I heard he's doin a new version or his version of Dark side of the moon. I only did the wizard of Oz thing with that album a few months ago...so mad! You seen it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭blastman

I sometimes vomit if im too excited!
That's probably too much information, really :)

Not a "new" version of Dark Side, just playing it in its entireity.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,450 ✭✭✭dimerocks
