Im male, 21 (nearly 22) im about 5'8" and weigh about 11 and a half stone.

I have just stopped smoking and am planning on regaining my fitness levels.
Im not totally unfit im capable of jogging a good 2 miles without colapsing. which i try to do at least 1ce a week.

I want to turn my pot belly in to at least a flat or near flat stomach im not too pushed about the whole six pack beefcake thing at the moment.
I also want to do some upper body work as my arms are pretty feebal.
My legs are in good condition and dont really need to much work at all.

First question am i in the correct weight region for my height and age?

Second is im going to be joinging carlisle gym soon (Its the handiest for me and i can get a substansial discount). I want to know how do i join the gym do i just walk in and say i want to join or do i have to ring up and how much does carlisle cost normally for a 1 year membership?

Does carlisle have classes or fitness instructors that can help me reach my goal?

Does anyone know a good way to flatten a stomach. I know it wont happen overnight im prepared to put the work in?

    Control Panties :D

1] Correct weight region? BMI is only a rough guide which helps doctors explain to deluded fat people that they are obese rather than just slightly overweight, while seeming matter-of-fact about it rather than offensive. The right question for you is 'do you look in shape or out of shape'?

2] Never been, but typically you can just walk in to any gym and join.

Flattening a stomach is usually done by lowering your bodyfat. Look at your diet. Do some weights. Do some more running. There are plenty of threads on this site dealing with the specifics of weight loss.

For Carlisle gym you can stroll in and join. You can get the instructors to do a programme up for you in there, its a good gym with almost all of the equipment that you would need. Fair play, the first step is the hardest just keep it going.
