    Hi
Looking to add some extra protein to my diet. One place that is lacking is breakfast.
Don't want to add any more whey shakes to my diet and it needs to be reasonably quick, eg don't have the time for removing egg whites!
    What would you recommend??

tbh, eggs are the easiest and best way to get protein first thing without having whey. if you have time to eat a bowl of cereal you've plenty of time to stick one whole egg and two whites into a bowl, stir and bung into the microwave for 2 min!!

sausages, bacon and other breakfast meats are poor protein sources, highly processed and full of muck.

I add a scoop of whey to my porridge and have a fruit yoghurt with it- creamy yumminess!!

    Thanks!

Never even thought of using the microwave for eggs :o
Is it just a matter of beating them and putting them into the microwave for 2 mins at 800w?

Also, whats the best way to seperate the white & yolk? I usually try and split the egg in 2 and move the yolk from one half to the other, letting the white drip into a bowl... but I always end up with little bits of egg shells in there!

    What flavour?

This sounds like it would ruin a nice bowl of porridge. But if it's nice, I might give it a crack.

Wheat germ and nuts such as shelled hazelnuts are reasonable sources of protein and are easy to stomach in the morning. Be aware that some amino acids may be lacking. However these foods are nutritious in other ways, they are high in good fats and minerals etc.

both. hopefully if you're on a weight loss plan you'll be doing some weight work, as increase in muscle mass is a sure fire way to look lean, increase your metabolism and therefore burn fat.

so... taking whey is a way of supplementing your diet with protein that's needed to make muscle. It won't get turned into fat but will help you meet your daily calorific requirements. I'm on that eternal quest to increase muscle mass/ lost bodyfat so I take whey to do both- all my weight training measn I need a high protein diet, which I get from food and shakes, and that way I can cut down my carb and fat intake whilst still maintaining a healthy 2000 calorie a day intake.

Edit: sorry Lothaar, didn't mean to not answer your question!! I just bung them in a microwaveable dish for 2 minutes or so. You can add milk to it to make it creamier, and maybe a bit of pepper but lay off the salt. And I use the traditional egg separation method like you described- my Dad was once a chef at a Butlins camp and used to cook ~ 200 omelettes a day so he taught me the one-handed technique ;) super-quick and easy in the morning!!!

mainly muscle building, its ideal to have a whey shake after a workout as it absorbs into your blood stream quicker(about 20-30 mins) than other proteins.

I mix boiled tuna (boiled to mellow down the fishy taste) with 2 eggs (& milk, pepper, butter & mixed herbs) to make scrambled tuna egg. Whey is good in the morning as it is quickly absorbed but you need something slower releasing like eggs to last you until your next meal. Or if you're lucky enough to have a micellar casein/ whey isloate mix in your protein shake then that'll do it too.
