Where's the best place to buy decent running gear in Dublin? I'm talking about clothes (windblockers, dri-fit tops, running tights, head gear, gloves etc) rather than runners.

Arnotts are quite good for specialist running gear - jackets, vests etc.

I get runners and that in Elvery's on Suffolk St, they should have all the gear you need

I like JJB Sports (Blanch, Liffey Valley and Tallaght shopping centres). They have a surprising amount of 'technical gear' (i.e. gear for working out in, rather than fashion wear).

Champion Sports on Grafton St (opposite HMV) has a Nike department on the ground floor. Reasonable selection of technical gear there too.

in most good sports stores but depends what you are going to be useing the gear for because if you are just useing it for the gym and training most sports stores in dublin do good gear

I have plenty of good gear for the gym and plenty of 'good-weather' running gear. To be precise, I'm looking for (winter/autumn/night) outdoor running gear ... a long sleeve dri-fit semi-fitted top, a lightweight windresistant waterproof running jacket (half-zip), a light-medium weight pair of running tights with good wicking qualities and a good hat and lightweight gloves.

I've been to JJB in Limerick, Lifestyle sports in Galway and Limerick, Elvery's in Galway and numerous others. You're extremely lucky if any of them have a stand with a few token running tops (usually in Small and XXL). Tried some places on the net but most that do good ranges are UK based and won't deliver to Ireland. There must surely be a good store in Dublin for what is after all fairly basic running gear.

Just a thought but have you considered trying some of the outdoor stores, such as Great Outdoors/Outdoor Adventure Store/Pantagonia. I am not sure if they would def have what you are looking for but they do stock a good range of windproof/wind resistance jackets and dry-flow long sleeve tops etc. If you didnt want to waste a trip you could call them in advance I have always found the staff in all those shops really helpful. Usually considerably more so that regular sport shops!

    Try www.johnbuckleysports.com
They are based in Cork but they will do delivery.

Bought some stuff from Aldi and Lidl in the past. Fairly decent quality and bloody cheap compared to some of the branded stuff. Personally prefer Aldi.

Heard Aldi will have gear around the start of March.

I had the same trouble getting gear for the blustery weather and got a Concurve jacket (windstopper) from www.bournesports.com; I've also bought stuff from www.birminghamrunner.com. I'd recommend shopping online (both are UK based companies) if you're in no major hurry and you're certain of your size. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I actually bought one of the items in Barcelona yesterday (a nice addidas running jacket). Bournesports looks good although the size thing is an issue alright ... I like to be able to try these things on. Thanks dermCu .. It was great to get an Irish site. Thanks for all the help ... much appreciated.
