I always feel kinda left out as I don't have a middle name. My parents must have started celebrating a bit early and just forgot to fill out the form properly.. but yeah, I don't have a middle name, and I must be in the 0.05% group of the population who suffer with a similar affliction :(

I tried to make my confirmation name my new middle name, but people could see right through my lies  However sad I may be about not having one, I'd be even sadder if I got one that was crap!

Whats yours? And what would you like it to be? :v:

I'd like Dave 'Dangerous' Fitz... meh heh heh

No cant stand mine. My folks went a bit crazy with the middle names. I'am XXXX John Antony William Jack XXXXXX. But I'am not to happy with my name full stop. I have a surname as a first name and a first name as a last name.

I almost thought one of my middle names was "Mary" when I was small, my mom used to go "ah... Frankie... Jesus, Mary, and Joseph... what have you broken/spilled/smashed now"

But in reality I'm an Edward too. Have never used it, in fact that's the first time I have thought of it in ages

I too, have Mary as a middle name, it's actually surprised how many (relatively speaking) guys have it. Must have been an old tradition or something.

Males in some predominantly Catholic communities (mostly Bavarian (but almost never other German), Belgian, French, Italian, Spanish, and Polish Catholics) are sometimes given what would otherwise be considered a female given name, especially the name Marie or Maria. In France, the most common case is to give a compound first name, such as Jean-Marie or, more rarely, André-Marie or Bernard-Marie; more rarely, Marie is used as third or subsequent given name. See French names for more details on naming practices in France.

Hispanic females, conversely, sometimes have the middle name José. This is particularly common in Roman Catholic families, as a practice aimed at "divine protection" from both sexes (the male trinity and the Virgin Mary).

The use of such names is primarily a cultural issue, rather than a religious issue. There is no Church teaching regarding such names.

Catholics also choose a Confirmation name when they receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This new name may be used as a second middle name.

    Courtesy of Wikipedia..:)

Not so bad, but when you put my 1st name with the 2nd.. it sounds funny.
So funny infact as a 3yr old I couldnt say it so I used to call myself 'Green Dandilion':( ...Oh the shame!

Dont really like my 1st name, its really boring but my mother spelt it funny and its been the bane of my life since!
It got changed in college to a version I can live with so Life is good:p

Middle Name's David so no complaints there really.

Chose Thomas for my confirmation name because my first name is a form of my other grandfather's and I didn't like to leave my Mum's dad out.

Question: if you renounce Catholicism do you still hang onto your Confirmation name?

    I do anyway.

Mainly because picking an obscure saints name was my little way of rebelling against the church and the school at the time. Oh.. and I didn't take the pledge either... that annoyed them too.
