Losing a lot of weight.

    Hoping to ask some advice.
    I'm just about to join a gym after being away from proper exercise for almost 2 years. I have to lose about 4 stone in total, and I was wondering whats the best way to do this?
    I have lost a lot of weight quickly before by doing app 40 mins cardio level cross trainer exercising 4 times a week, but as soon as I stopped, I just piled the weight back on. I am hoping for quick results, but I want to make sure I do it healthily and in a way so it stays off.
    any advice welcome
