I tried to find wholegrain pasta in cornlescourt (Dunnes) last night. They had one brand which was expensive and then many other Dolmio whites and mixed pastas.

i bought the mixed pasta which said on the back it is 100% wholewheat. Is there something I should look out for? What keyword on the packet do I look out for?

    I want complex carbs

Pasta is typically made with wheat, so 100% wholewheat is a decent option. Any wholegrain brand would be nice but now you're talking specialised pastas. The wholewheat should be plenty complex enough for ye.

If you are eating pasta, then a good option is to look out for fresh pasta in the fridge section as it will be made with eggs and be a better option than dried pasta. Also, you can look out for italian brands as they tend to be made with Strong white flour (ground from durum wheat which has a higher protein content). Also remember not to overcook your pasta as doing so raises the GI further.

dolmio do a wholewheat penne too, my mum gets it in superquinn.
its not amazing, but its better than white and better than spending a fiver for tiny packet of the specialised type stuff.
