You can get your body fat measured at your gym (if they offer that facility). Body fat tends to measured by a sports scientist, an instructor in a gym or other trained individual (doctors tend to use the BMI rather than body fat analysis).

If you are not a member of a gym there are private performance centres that offer body fat analysis. One such place is UCC (check out http://www.ucc.ie/services/physed/human.html) will give you an idea what you are loking for.

If you can't access a trained professional to get your body fat using skinfold calipers you can try estimating your body fat using girth measurements. GIRTH MEASUREMENTS

Using girth measurements to determine body fat is popular amongst wrestlers, but is far less accurate than skin fold tests and leaves just as much room for error. Let me explain how this is done.

Start off by writing down your age (in years). Then your height in centimeters, then your body weight in pounds. Using a bendable (cloth) measuring tape, record the distance around your waist (by measuring at the belly button), your wrist (measuring in front of the bones where your wrist bends), your upper arm (the peak of your bicep, unflexed), and your hip (in the meaty part of your thigh).

After you have recorded these measurements, its time to break out the calculator.

Body Density (DB) = (upper Arm) – Constant (Age) –(Hip) + (Wrist)

Then plug the answer into this formula:

    BF% = (495 ÷ BD) – 450

There are many variations to this formula, but it doesn’t really matter because none of them will give you results as accurate as a calipers will.

    in a word.. no.

they use electrical impulses to measure resistance along the shortest route available. calipers are the most accurate and easily obtainable measuring tools.
