In scouts and schoo. I had always done situps by moving by upper body the whole way off the ground and nearly to my knees.
I've recently started TKD, and there the situps are more like ab crunches or something - i.e. bending only at the sternum (sp?) and lifting from there to your head off the ground...

Just wondering which is the right way to do them?

Maybe they are ab crunches!!! IMO crunches are better, if you do them right. But theres no reason why you cant do both excercises.

Yeah but in TKD they're referred to as situps that's the only thing...
