A lot of girls do, on the basis that he should know what is apt even if it is contrary to what she says.
Sadly most men are terrible mind readers.

Because if we could read your minds some of us would be working for psychics ireland by now.

Ever considering actually hinting at what youd like ?

If your boyfriend asks you what you want for Valentines Day then slap him hard on the face for falling for a commercial event. He's a fool, as are you, for using a money-making event for declaring your love for each other.

    ****ing grow up.

Men can't read minds, believe it or not. You should just tell him what you want instead of having him guess...

Thats coz when we were lining up to get our super powers from god we decided that we would prefer to be able to urinate while standing up over having mind powers beacuse when we squat our balls get scratched by the bushes :D

Yes all girls do this, I've come to the conclusion that when a girl says to do something and you actually do it, you're in big trouble. Also if a girl says to do something and you don't do it, then you're still in just as much trouble. This is why we never pay any attention to what women say, we're screwed either way so why bother ?

FYI ask your bf what HE wants for valentines day. When he replies 'nothing - i'm ok' what he really means is "a 3some with you and your best friend dressed up as schoolgirls, followed by lots of rear entry."

Yes but they could, if we keep practicing on the whole mind reading thing - imagine that ! we'd be the only country in the world with actual psychics.

Why don't you just reply with "surprise me"? That way you don't have to be awkward and just make a huge mess out of the day and you'll have something to look forward to?

This year i will be mainly demanding roller-runners &/or Joe Dolan tickets!

He knows i want them & it's up to himself to decide whether or not he wants peace between now & my birthday or not.

    Bless him!

However i *do* put forward the suggestion of putting off valentines day until March so he can get some money together after the christmas splurge & car insurance rip-off season.

I never say "ah a card will do", unless I mean it of course:)
This year my BF is taking us to Kilkenny for a romantic lil get away. Just what I wanted.
If you really want something, just tell them, they aren't mind readers, and if you say you don't want anything, they can only assume that you don't want anything.

cinema/dinner/general night out date + chocs = teh win

cards, flowers etc. are all supplimentary stuff that aren't really necessary. buy too much and you've just succumed to hallmark's marketing.

Thats a little psychotic tbh, and not my style.
I know women do this, but theres a scatty reason behind it - they want their men to do something 'thoughtful' for them and 'prove' your love.
Its taken far too seriously imo.

*sigh*... when I had a b/f it was enough to just see him...
now that I'm single, humm... a card would be like the best thing ever!
thanks for reminding me how crappy it's going to be tuesday week... Be glad you have someone who loves you, but if you really feel that the present is more important... I suppose that's up to you.

This may interest those of you who want to get your girlfriend chocolates.. It's slightly more unusual and personalised than your average box of chocolates. You could also add your own photographs to a normal box of chocolates to make it easier.
