Flexibility

Just starting back footie training recently and am looking to improve my flexibility.

Had hamstring problems all last year and was told it was due to my lower back bein so tight. Stretched it out before and after training but could always feels my hammys tightening a little.

A mate of mine recently got a Thai Massage done on him, he reckons it was the best 60 euros he ever spent.

Anyone ever had one or know of anyone who has one done.

Apparently it works wonders for flexibility and posture particulary on the back/thigh/shuolder area.

Its basically a 60-90 mins stretching session, kinda like a heavy pilates treatment.

    Thai massage.....worth the money??

Proper deep tissue massage from a good physical therapist who will tell you where you need to work on v's thai lady who does massage and stretching with no feedback.

Not a tough choice (yes i have gone to the mali thai centre and it was just ok - but i work with excellent therapists every day)

For general flexibility work, you could try joining a martial arts club - something with an emphasis on kicks like Tae Kwon Do or points based sports Karate or Kickboxing. Most classes will spend a good proportion of time on flexibility work that affects your legs and core, and then actually uses the muscle as it's intended which I'd imagine cements the results better than getting stretched and then relaxing.

You could probably find something to compliment the footie sessions, but flexibility work requires 3-4 sessions a week to show improvement. You could do them on your own once you know what to do though.

Did he give you a wink when he said 'Thai Massage'?
