Did anyone see that show last night on Channel 4 - I only caught a bit of it but it basically had some women who were breast-feeding kids longer that normal. What I saw was a woman who fed her 4 year old but when I saw an 8 year old scrambling for a mammary snack, I was stunned. Her mother came across as a hippy-I-wont-work-but-spend-all-my-time-growing-our-food-in-the-garden type of people and she thought she was giving her child "a beautiful gift" . Er.. at what point are you going to ween that kid off the damn thing? Will the kid still be suckling when she a pimply teenager? I hope not.

I am all for breast-feeding but I just thought that was a bit much. And anyway, nothing wrong with a couple of years break until you get your first girlfriend. Then you can make her and yourself happy again

Any thoughts?

The first woman was feeding her 4 year son, the second was feeding her 8 year old daughter - and has a second daughter who had been weened off aged 5. Is that nice.

I dont think it matters if they were male or female. They were still too old, IMO.

i didn't see it but my g/f was tellin me that the 8yr old was having a drink which in all fairness is weird but then sometimes the father would join in too...thats just wrong... if that kid turns out normal fair play to her

the benefits of breastfeeding probably end after first year.i think some of these mothers get a sick pleasure out of it,i read about this before but could be crap.

I saw a clip, and I have to say I thought it was a bit disturbing when the 8 year old girl was saying something along the lines of "I prefer breast milk to anything else"

The WHO say that a child shouldn't be weened off breastmilk until age two.

Apparently in mainland Europe it is normal to continue for a lot longer after that (But NOT until the child is 8!!)

There was one girl who's child was about 2
A woman with twins at 2 1/4.
A woman with a four year old boy (they then adopted an 18month old Chinese girl (her reason to continue breatfeeding the boy for so long was so she'd still have breastmilk to give the adopted child!!!!)
Then there was the woman with the 8 year old girl.

My personal feeling is once the child is old enough to say "boobie" or whatever, the child is old enough to be weened off breastmilk. Older than that is just gross!

They were just whipping the t!ts out anywhere & everywhere, infront of the older children while making the dinner & everything.

It was a bit much for me.

i can't believe i just looked this up but the taste of breastmilk changes with every meal the mother has...one women said her baby would never feed after she had jalepinos...it was never gonna be a normal conversation was it really :P

I saw most of the program too and its true - the father did join in. I was watching it with my friends while drinking, and we were laughing at all the sick innuendos we got out of it, but it just went too far at the end when we could clearly see that the 8-year old was seriously warped.

Yeah the dad joining in was wrong,

but lets not forget that the WHO claim breastfeeding till the age of 4(was on the program) most people breastfeed till 2 on mainland europe, and less then 1 in the UK(and probably ireland)

The problem mostly lies in the fact that we live in a society where breasts are seen as sexual in nature, so some people view getting them out in public wrong and dirty in some sense.

toddlers seem too old to me to be breastfeeding and i agree with the above poster that if a kid can ask for breast milk then they are too old.

well the kids have no control over it because its all they know...u could teach a kid that stealing was right and they would trust you (the parent) completely...i'd love to see a 'thanks for the mammaries...10 years on' to see how ****ed up both the kids and the parents become

It didn't show the father joining in & I don't think the father also feeds while the child is, but that in their own time, the father also tries the whole breast feeding thing.

Well they didn't actually explain how the father joined in but I presumed it was more of the father fondling on one side while the child fed on the other.

As for the 8 year old, she weened herself as she was no longer able to suckle. Apparantly the mouth naturally "forgets" how to suck and the child must be weened. What I thought was odd was not that the older daughter was weened at 5 nor that her sister was allowed to continue, but that the act was kept secret from the older sister who seemed rather annoyed when she found out!

what really disturbed me was when the 8 year old, at the end of the prog, was stuffing tissue paper down her top and saying "when i get boobies, i'm going to suck my nipples AAAALLL THE TIME" so so wrong.

To be perfectly honest Pighead has absolutely no problem with breastfeeding in the comforts of your own home. But breastfeeding in public should be abolished banned or at least frowned upon.

I'm not saying I don’t like the boobies, I love them and cant stop looking if a couple of funbags come bouncing towards me. I feel all turned on by the beautiful fleshy mounds until i see a gummy little baby smiling towards me and then I just feel bad gawking at a mother feeding her kid and feel angry and floppy that i should have been put into that situation.

Its like if i whipped the big fella out in public and started feeding my ladyfriend with it, i think everyone would have a big fcukin problem with it.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you disgusted posters have breastfed or have children who have been breastfed? I'm guessing not many - if any at all.....lol....

I'm genuinely amazed at some of the OTT prudish attitudes in Ireland to breastfeeding but I suppose in a country where it is preached that touching your own breasts is a sin, it's hardly surprising that folks gasp in shock and look around for bolts of lightening if women dare to breastfeed their child in public! :rolleyes::p I think it sometimes gets forgotten that the purpose of breasts is to cater to the nutritional needs of little babies, not for the pleasure of men - tho obviously they can multi-function [I should add - not as a milk bar for the father tho......:eek::eek::eek:]

That said, breastfeeding an eight yr old who gets all their nutrition from their own diet is completely unnecessary - I don't know what benefits it gives the child emotionally but it wouldn't appeal to me! :eek:

Ah yes, the tricky "inbetween period" where a male is (for once) not obsessed by womens breasts. Worst 3 weeks of my life.
