Sexiest IRISH Accents?

Ok, after all the other nasty threads that have popped up of late, I don't want any negative comments in this one (Please)

Which Irish accent do you find the sexiest / cutest / most attractive?
    (Can be county or region)

If you know what it is about this accent that makes you choose it, then say why.

(Can't do a pole as I'm sure there are too many possible options)

REMEMBER:- This is not a thread about which accent you find most annoying & why, so please refrain!

P.S. Mine has to be the Donegal accent, & I'm not sure why, it's just so musical or something, really sexy IMO

Nothing beats that north inner dublin city accent.

Staaaaaaaaaaaary, gis a roide! - Charm the pants of any man....

Seriously I find the Carlow accent does it for me and in a slight second place Galway.

    A Cork accent.

It's such an easy going type of accent.

    Coolock accent for the win!

Every day as I walk through Northside Shopping Centre I almost cream my pants as I hear Anto recount the tale of how he decked Johno at the Leisureplex the previous evening.

Believe it or not Chrissie the scouse accent originates from Ireland. Its a mixture of Irish and Yorkshire. Many words still in use today in Liverpool derive from the Gaelic language
ie Smashing comes from is maith sin. say is maith sin fast and you get smashing. strange but true.

Pigheads favourite accent is the Dundalk one. Eloquent yet authoritative.

North-West accent is nice enough alright (although the Derry accent can get a bit rough at times). I don't have it unfortunitly.. bit of a mongrel accent myself.

Cork accent isn't bad either.. can be quite lyrical (as can a Galway accent).

There's a wide range of Dublin accents... none of which are any good.

I hate the Dundalk accent, it's horrible! it's not so much they speak the words, as chew them, swallow them, and regurgitate them, and then rub everyones nose in it!

I do like the noth accent, it has a nice bite to it, I hate all others tho.

Actually now that you mention it Lancastrian does ring some bells. Think I made up the Yorkshire bit. Didnt know about the welsh bit though. The scousers are language magpies.

Jeez, if only people in Donegal had internet access, they'd be well chuffed now!!! :D

I especially like the Dundalk accent when they say "Well our fella" and then leave out the fella and just say "Well our".

    wtf is that about.

Do you think it is that difficult that for once people just say somthing positive & then leave it at that?

I mean, you can always start another thread for which do you hate most where they can let off steam instead of here.

Sure we'll see how it goes,

(but shame on ye if ye can't!!!) :D

you asked my opinion and I gave it to you. I am a frank person. you ask me my opinion and I will not sugar coat anything. you asked me what accent I like and I told you, I also said I dislike a certain accent, where's the complication there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,487 ✭✭✭franksm

Eh ? So many people liking the northern accents... I don't think this is representative of reality at all... I have a Belfast accent (the soft version, not the "phuk-yoo-like, chucky-ar-la, kick-yer-wee-ballix-in" west belfast version) and despite being a throughly nice bloke, have been on the receiving end of a fair share of abuse in Dublin.

Have to say, the Americans love the Belfast accent too - I have been blessed that way.

"gee, that's like, Irish, right ? Awesome". Although... they have asked for translation the odd time.

My favourite accent: I love the Mayo accent best in women

I asked you NOT to tell me the accent you disliked, that's the only complication.

Yours didn't really bother me as you said something positive, but the next person to come along & the one after that...... will see negative comments & think:-
oh this is a debate about accents (which it's not) & the thread will be degraded to a slagging match like all other threads of late.

I'm trying to avoid this, just for once, so please everyone be nice, & just post the accent you like best.

Of course the Northern accent is the best. I practically have to fight the women off me. I can't even buy lunch or a drink without getting accosted.

The "phuk-yoo-like, chucky-ar-la, kick-yer-wee-ballix-in" accent is not limited to West Belfast! ;)

Must be my bake then

Translation for you non-northern types: bake = face
    Usage: "shut your wee bake"

    Surely bake = mouth?
    Misprenounciation of beak.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 173 ✭✭mise_me_fein_V2

Depends how far north you go.

I'm not mad keen on the Belfast accent.

    I like the Armagh one.

I'm from Louth and I've been told it's a cool accent.

I hate the fake d4 accent.

Well I'm about an hours drive from where you are, & bake doesn't mean face.

Though the saying "shut your wee bake" means the same thing.

Bake = mouth (as in beak on a duck, etc)
