Fitness Advice For Gf

    Well folks,

I'm looking for a bit of advice on a training plan/schedule for my girlfriend, she has been a member of a few different gyms and I'm afraid to say it, is one of the girls who seem to have only used the 1-2 kilo dumbells...

She is 5' 4 and around the 52 kilos mark and by no means fat, she wants to as she put it 'tone up' and lose what ever fat she has stored around her body, she asked me to put together a weights/cardio/diet routine for her, and I think at this stage I've convinced her that if she used weights she wouldnt turn into an he/she.

She will not be joining a gym in the next 6-8 months so she is going to train at my place.

I've promised her she will see some results in 4-6 weeks.
I know there is plenty of training experience on boards so I am looking for some advice on what type of lifts/ reps / how often?

I was going to start her on Dumbell Presses, squats, dead lifts, Good morning's, situps and some arm/shoulder work..

    Any advice will be appreciated.

After all I'm doing this for her health, and maybe some of my own uterior motives:D

honestly, if she's not motivated enough to look into this herself, and asks her bf what to do, who then guarentees results within 4-6 weeks, THEN asks people on a msg board for advice, i reckon it's a lost cause.

of course this is only my opinion.

if she's not motivated enough to look into this herself

She has been going to gym prior to this but imo has been just been given bad info from badly trained gym staff or worse still, instructors who recieved their cert/diploma in a christmas cracker*
and asks her bf what to do

Why not ask me...? I train I get results
    results within 4-6 weeks

And you think this is not possible...
Of course she will see some results in 4-6 weeks.
THEN asks people on a msg board for advice

Thats right mate, ADVICE, did I ask you to do come around here and spot her..?
    i reckon it's a lost cause

This of course is only your opinion.

*I realise that not all fitness instructors are like the above mentioned and a lot of work has to go into getting relevent Qualifaction's

Why are you insulting him? What's wrong with you?

IMO, and it's something I really believe, you girlfriends needs a lifestyle change rather than a "results in 4 to 6 weeks" regime.

Move to a more vegetarian diet, continuous cardio and light weights routine. She may not have the results she wants in 4 to 6 weeks, but she will have a toned healthy body for the rest of her life.

I always think Madonna has it right, while people like Jade (from Big Brother) or Kerry Katona (Brian McFaddens ex) are the average, hopeless, lost cause female. They want quick results and don't realise having a great body is not about motivating yourself for a few weeks.

To be in shape you it's a thing that has to be constantly worked on, there is no quick fix it's a lifestyle change.

You have to be very motivated in order to maintain an in shape body Lundi Mardi was just pointing out that. I don't think it was really nice to quote every word they said and make a smart remark on it.

It's very nice you are trying to help her out though if she asked you. Perhaps buy her a membership to a good gym who know what they are at.

I find doing laps in the pool the best way to stay fit without getting that 'he/she' look you are talking about.

Needs toning. Not motivated to work out. Is there a message here? Is it likely that repetitive lifting will be something that she will stay with? Why not try something cardio that is fun for her? Does she like to dance? You can burn a lot dancing, and it can be fun for both of you. And if one or both of you are not good dancers, then take lessons together. Talking about bonding...and just don't wiggle apart. Hold her. Try the tango, too. With sweeps and lifts. Builds grace (for her), strength (for you), and coordination (for both for you). Most girls I know love to dance. But lads are not always so interested, until they try it. Dancing can be hot, lads. Often leads to something even more fun later.

That's all pretty much what I do myself. it's a good routine for a woman. Instead of plain dumbell presses, I might recommende arnold presses. just for a bit of variety. Add in dumbell pull-ups as well. 10 kg is not a heavy weight for anyone, regardless of sex.

Thank f@+K someone actually answered the bloody question!!

Do the same as your good self - DO NOT PUSH HER HARD!!!

Keep the reps slightly higher and go for a walk/jog outside before hand (20-30mins).

I train in westwood leopardstown regularly with my girlfriend and she has made brilliant progress and in no way looks over developed (at 10-12% BF 'tone' shows up much easier on her)

Variety fun and support - working out is very much like making love to a beautiful woman you know
