I'm looking for suggestions for fairly heavy rock music to train to, not too over the top, I like to be able to understand the lyrics, I dón't like all out screming and shouting but I would like something fairly aggressive.

At the moment my favourite tune when I'm coming to the end of a run is Foo Fighters "Best Of You", would any of you have any suggestions along these lines?

    Thanks

Try all the foo fighters stuff, times like these, everlong etc. Queens of the stone age is great too, really gets you going, (no one knows, you think I aint worth a dollar, the sky is falling, go with the flow etc) Some linkin Park is great, papercut and a few other tracks and Alien Ant Farm are good.

White Stripes - Fell in love with a girl
    The Who - Pinball Wizard
Elbow - Leaders of the free world

I love listening to them, during a workout.

System Of A Down, Pantera, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Nine Inch Nails.

Can't stand Rammstein, for good industrial see Skinny Puppy, SPK, Portion Control, Front 242, Frontline Assembly... These can be something of an acquired taste though. Lots of drum machines though, so pretty good for workouts.

My 10 rock songs that build up to a crescendo (great for psyching up for a set) would be...

Metallica - St Anger, Frantic, Master of Puppets
    Slayer - Reign in Blood
Slipknot - Before I Forget, The Heretic Song
    Trapt - Headstrong
Guns n Roses - Live and Let Die

Then maybe something a bit lighter like Nonpoint - In the Air Tonight and Staind - Intro

the black metal from norway is great. for training..:D just dont go burning churches or somesuch outside the gym..

dimmu borgir - they're my favourite.....garanteed Personal Bests with these lads screaming in your ears.

some slayer stuff is good too, or arch enemy generally though i think the scandinavian metal has something the yanks(mostly though not exclusively) will never get.

symphonic classical can sometimes get me going...like for deadlifts. the walkup to the bar with some dramatic classical buildup..PB before the weight ever leaves the floor...

Good songs there, I would suggest some Pantera on top of that like other have.

Pantera - Fcuking Hostile, Revolution Is My Name, Goddamn Electric, Yesterday Don't mean Sh1t.

Also if your going to dive in Slayer (Definitly check out Raining Blood) then try "Payback" aswel.

I would suggest a few other Slipknot songs too, probably wouldn't suit you though.

    You might also try:

    (Everyones Favourites)
    Drowning Pool - Bodies
    Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff

Marylin Manson - The Fight Song , The Love Song, Burning Flag.

(These *might* "scream" a little too much for you, good stuff though)
Machine Head - SuperCharger, Bite The Bullet

(Although a girl sings, some screaming)
    Kittie - Brackish

    Korn - Here To Stay

(Screaming + Singing, will get you pumped though!)
    In Flames - Pinball Map

    Ill Nino - No Murder

(Fairly screamy guys, good stuff though )
Fear Factory - Linchpin, New Breed

(These should be right up your avenue, infact, make sure you try this one at least!)
    Disturbed - Rise, Liberate, Conflict

Damage plan - New Found Power

    (If your feeling really brave!)
DevilDriver - Die (and Die Now)

(Again, probably not for you, great music but lots of screaming, try the first one for a good sample)
Children of Bodom - Towards Dead End, Bed Of Razors, Bodom Beach Terror, Needled 24/7

(These will probably suit you to a tee)
Breaking Benjamin - So Cold, Away

Papa Roach - Thrown Away, Blood Brothers, Between Angels and Insects

Powerman5000 - Supernova Goes Pop, Ultra Mega

    Prodigy - Breathe

Rob Zombie - Dragula, Scum Of The Earth, Devil Man

    (Get this song)
    Soil - Halo

    (Heavy again)
    SoulFly - Seek'n'Strike, Four Elements

(Nice and Heavy yet friendly! Mix of singing and shouting)
    SpineShank - (Can't Be)Fixed, Malnutrition, Playgod, Synthetic

(Probably not for you, but great to get you pumped)
Static-X - Get To The Gone, I'm With Stupid, Otsego Undead

(Definitly try some of these, pretty sure these will suit you in some form)
System Of A Down - ATWA, BYOB, CIGARO, Forest, Prison Song, RadioVideo , Toxicity

....Man I could go on all day here, anyway just get some SOAD!

Since you like Foo Fighters, you might like Linkin Park ( Place for my head, Pushing me away, Points of Authority, Faint )

Well, that should do you for a while! (Amazing what you will do to avoid studying :p)

Of course failing that, try this Link; as you can see QOTSA, SOAD and RATM all make an appearance.

I always finish a run with Killing in the Name of - Rage against the Machine. I put it on when I'm ready to quit. keeps me going for another few minutes

Lots of the above are great tunes, one you should also add is Type O negative: I don't wanna be me.

What's that Rage against the Machine one, with the line "**** you I won't do what you tell me" that's also a great one.

Muse - Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria, New Born, Plug In Baby particularly, or their last 2 albums, Origin of Symmetry and Absolution.

Bush - Testosterone, Little Things, Swallowed, Everything Zen (or their first two albums sixteen stone and Razorblade Suitcase)

Placebo - Nancy Boy, Pure Morning, Brick Sh!thouse, or any of their albums.

Hives - your new favourite band album

Jet - Are you gonna be my girl, cold hard bitch

    ACDC (take your pick)

I don't know why people are recommending death metal, pantera and the like though, the guy clearly asked for hard rock not metal.

RATM, System of a Down, and Queens of the Stone age are definantly recommended too.

Yeah but "hard rock" is everything from Bonnie Tyler to Michael Bolton and Europe,it hardly cuts the mustard these days as music to train to!
