Squats and leg pain

    Hi there
I do squats once a week. I do 2 warm up sets of 8 x 50kg, then 8 x 80kg, the 3 sets of 6 x 100 or 110kg. I've been gradually building up the weight over 2 years now. However the pain has not gotten much easier for me. I am in agony in the legs for abotu 3 or 4 days afterwards, day 2 being the worst. Right now I can barely walk. I don't even know why I do them anymore but I suppose I just like training! The pain from doing bench presses and back exercises etc. is NOTHING compared to squat pain. I take protein shakes afterwards, jacuzzis, cold plunge pools etc. but these don't help at all. Any ideas how I can stop this pain?

Thats the joy of squats. As long as it is only muscle pain the you are fine! If you want to cut down on dom's try Cell-X by Nutrition X. I was trialing it for release and must say that i was impressed with the effect on DOMS.

All in all though, squats are considered by many to be the king of lifts for a reason!!

vitamin C has also been linked with reducing pain after training, as well as being fantastic for the immune system (and probably lighter on the pocket than Dragan's fancy stuff he's trying to plug :p )

lower weight and increase reps if you dont enjoy the DOMS pain ,maybe your not eating enough to help you recover so that the next weeks session takes a lot outta ya. try some walking or light running the day after leg training.
