    1. Stop the honey nut flakes and get some muesli
    2. Stop the sandwich at ten, have some tea instead. A bowl of muesli is good for keeping you full (the flakes are not)
    3. Have a sandwich at lunchtime, with soup if you like, but make the sandwich without butter and with say tuna or turkey, with plenty of onions, lettuce, relish, whatever but stay away from high calorie coleslaw, egg mayo and anything prepacked which has lots of butter and mayo
    4. Forget the bar of chocolate - what do you need it for? Have another cup of tea (I know the feeling, but you are not a 6 year old, and bars of chocolate and crisps are for CHILDREN). You need to recondition your thinking to accept this. Junk food is for kids and idiots. Unless it's Christmas or special occasions - imagine you are back in Victorian times.
    5. For Dinner, all you have to do is stick to non fattening foods. No chippers, no chinese takeaways and no Lamb Rogan Josh. It's all garbage and is killing you. Again, you need to think like this! Brainwash yourself!!
    - For meat, get salmon, tuna, chicken, etc., try and avoid red meat as it doesn't do anything for you really
    - Cook lots of vegetables, or get the stuff from Tesco that microwaves - most important thing is to fill up on this so to avoid snacking later in the evening
    - Have some fruit. Apples are full of fibre and are like the morning muesli for filling you up to avoid feeling peckish.

That's all there is to it. Plus, maybe go for a run of 30 mins 4-5 times a week and within ONE WEEK (not kidding) you'll feel a hell of a lot better.

Remember, red meat sits in your colon rotting for 2 weeks after you swallow it.

This is all what I try and do myself, but it's harder than it looks. Exercise is big factor - a 30 min jog every day will burn off that soup and sandwich easily.

FOr optimum weight loss, you need to go to 1200kcal/day intake, but that's extreme and maybe isn't healthy. Better to say go to 1600kcal (slightly below maintenance calorie intake of 2000) and do some exercise, go for a cycle, etc., .

ANd no booze. Booze is what stops Irish people from being successful.

Well firstly I'd recommend you ignore most of the points made by the poster above.

    Then:

Personally I think you should have a bigger, healthier breakfast, including some fruit, and especially cut out the snack before bedtime - ideally no eating after six or seven.

Try to get up early a few times a week and do some cardio work before breakfast. Try to get in two weights sessions a week if you can.

There's a few simple things that will get you started and still let you have a semblance of a normal life - and certainly don't drop your intake to 1200 calories a day unless you're a tiny man or a small woman.

Because heaven forbid he should hold 2000 a day, add some more maybe and let the excercise do the rest?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
