booze, and lots of it, I would have big races with another member of staff to see who could finish a 4 pack of Yazoo first, I would swipe a load of bars at a time... erm some other **** too (I worked in the back stores of a supermarket)

I actually was going to post something, but then I know if I do - someone will no doubt use it in a later argument to slate my credibility and then all will be lost  Feck it..

Worked in a supermarket and everything went, even stupid stuff like firelighters and pantyliners??!! Just taken cos we could (made a bloody good bonfire now thinkin of it) We also used to nick the delivery van every so often to do personal errands (we were 16 & 17 at the time). We used to nick any in store competition prizes too - trying to split 1 Ireland jersey 4 ways didn't work out too good once.. at least I got the crest!

Used to work in a cinama but all the nick-able stuff there is fairly tame.

back in the day when i was young working in the diy business i used to sell stuff to customers for cash instead of putting it thru the tills....

lawnmowers, powertools, showers, furniture etc etc.....

also used to refund stuff into the tills cos the customer service girls used to leave their cards at the service desk + if i was short of a few bob id refund stuff and take the cash

thinking back it wasnt the most honest thing to do but i was young and foolish. wouldnt dream of doing it now

Nah, not really, I have a few USB thingys at home with the company logo on them, but I think we are allowed to take them, so not very rebel like on that score.
When I worked in a cinema I used to let all my mates in free, and tried to get them free food. Now I get in free and get free food, so the circle is complete.:D

Do you think they are looking for staff? :D

my worst offence was pens or something.. even at that it wasnt intentional - gabbing about wkend plans as you are walking out the front door or something daft.

I do it the other way around and bring stuff into work and leave it there... like computers, routers and amps.

I'm a bit rubbish really... I always lose reciepts and never get around to claiming stuff back either...

Never really piked anything major from work...used to rob biros left, right and centre although when you work in an office there aint that much you can rob...My Dad's an expert though - he's piked Pc's, laptops, fire extinguishers, chairs, the odd drum of instant coffee...I'm kinda sh1t by comparison really!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,563 ✭✭✭leeroybrown

I've gotten some bits and pieces that were being written off asset lists but still had a useful life elsewhere (computer components mainly). Other than that , nothing pilfered apart from the usual few pens and refil pads.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,129 ✭✭✭Nightwish

Biro's mainly cos I keep them in my shirt pocket and end up taking them home. I also took an Irish flag which was up in the window for the world cup and I took some Xmas decorations which were going in the bin anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,258 ✭✭✭✭Rabies

Phone credit. Over the course of three years, probably a few thousands euro worth, and I still get it despite being gone from the shop for well over a year. We took EVERYTHING we wanted. Magazines, batteries, any stationary (including really expensive pens), expensive teddy bears, food, books, and so on.
I would also give discounts to everyone I knew who came in, and by that, I mean people who I got to know that worked in the area. A lot of people woiuld help me out in return, which was fun. By the end, it was getting crazy; I would give free stuff to people if they complimented my music choice or if I liked their T-Shirt or anything at all. The management in the shop were completely incompetent, as you can imagine.
We (or at least me; I know there were others who didn't even have thgis much decency) drew the line at nicking from the till. I never did that.

Anyway, I now have a real job and I'm straight as an arrow there.

Nothing from the current job , nothing worth robbing in there , when I worked in Spar though , I used pay for a tennar credit and the girls would give me 25 (by accident ;) ) We used get a few cans for before we went out too , food , hair gel body spray and stuff like that , they had no video camera`s at the time so it was a kind of free for all , also the boss was a complete wankstein so I didnt feel bad getting the odd thing here and there :)

How the hell did you rob a skip? It's not like you can throw it in the back of the car.

So what have you robbed from work

You can only "rob" a person or an institution. You cannot rob pens,CDs etc. You can steal them and by stealing them you are robbing the owner.

Sorry for being pedantic but this has to be one of the most abused words in the English language!!

I'd be surprised if most of the major dictionaries havn't been updated reflect this form of usage.

I absconded with a veritable treasure chest in Euro 2004 memorabilia when I was working for 2 months in Lisbon for the tournaments organisers. It was comical coming home with all the stuff - footballs, pens, medallions, t-shirts, socks, runners, caps, keyrings, notepads, lanyards and more. I even took a couple of official photographers bibs! The best take were 4 official journalist bags I got -very swanky. I kept 2 for myself.
When the TV stations were all packing up at the end of the tournament there was some really pricey stuff lying all over the place like flat screen monitors etc. I was very tempted but chickened out.
I gave most the horde away to friends. The large bulk of it was tacky **** anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,347 ✭✭✭daiixi

People used to "donate" old videos/dvds that they didn't want anymore to the video shop I worked at and instead of putting them into the system as new stock I would swap them over with new videos/dvds which I (or friends) wanted! Also used to majorly cut down on the extreme markup for friends!
