Right so , well im a chip junky , just love them and over the last few months ive been trying to get healthier.
In doing so i have pretty much cut out deep fat fried chips and only have low fat over chips.

would oven chips be about on par with say potatoes ? Or are chips just plain bad for you? :(

I'd just cut them out completely. Either that or make it your treat meal and have them once a week.
They're just carbs and fat usually.

Do you mean you have frozen oven chips? You should try doing your own oven wedges.

Chop the spuds into wedges, coat them in a little olive oil and stick them in the oven. And you can add whatever flavours you like by stirring in paprika or garlic or whatever else before you cook them. They're lovely and they're healthy.

Try sweet potatos. Lower GI. Even better than normal chips IMO

I say that in itself is too much...

You can't beat a good Macari's all the same.

Best of luck giving up the chips, wish i could give up the Chinese', but they are so damn good.

macaris and chippers are the reason why we have one of the highest rates of heart disease in europe.
a chineese contains tons of saturated and trans fats which are lethal, monosodium glutamate to flavour food as they use cheap ingredients, tons of salt which is very bad and loads of processed carbohydrates that just go straight to your hips!
i gave them up years ago,you can make your own healthy indians and chinese's that are as nice if not nicer.
the oven chips are ok to have with a balanced meal.

All those things I would consider fine in moderation. Its all about how far you want to take your fitness and a few servings of chips a week isnt going to effect you much.

A few servings of chips a week? Like chipper chips?

Far too much....at least 3 out of 7 days eating chips. That is terrible.

No it's not. I eat chips three times a week and I have a body fat percentage of 12%

Who said 12% is anything to be proud of anyway? Depends what your goals are. Having said all that, you are a troll anyway.

you can have a bodyfat of 12% by eating nothing but chocolate but it doesnt mean its healthy.
deep fried chips are high in saturated fat which is bad for cholesterol the heart and many other body systems/functions,also loads of salt on chips is bad for heart.

Yes, oven chips are better for you than deep fried chips. They are, as you probably know, not as good for you as potatoes.

If you fancy fish and chips take a look at this healthier recipe at http://www.weightwatchers.ie/WWI_Controller.aspx?Page=1065312

I don't think telling you to cut them out completely is going to be very helpful for a self confessed 'chip junky'. A little of what you fancy every so often will help you stay with the healthy eating.
