My wife's knee's crack like a 1000 crips packets when she does squats, or any of that stuff. Restricts what she can do in training. Is there anything u can take for gammy knees?
I know glucosamine and condrition is ment to be good, but it's made from shellfish, n she's vegie.
Anything else? There was a thread similar to this ages ago, people had loads of idea's, I just can't find it.

    Cheers

I've taken to wearing a pro support for my knee. I'd be interested on what the rest of you lads have to say about what you can take to help?

Glucosamine, Chondroitin works well for me , You wont feel the effects for a number of weeks. Old folks use it for Arthritis, just depends on what quality of a product you buy. I use to have a hip that pops and crackles ,but I can honestly see in my unqualified opinion that It appears to work.

Can you recommend any brand names?

go to your nearest boots/or chemist and ask they all pretty much contain the same doses the brand i use is called glucosamine funnily enough, cod liver oil is also excellent for joint mobility

My grandmothers legacy is that I still take cod liver oil. A veggie alternative is Flax seed oil, though I've never used it.

If you can't find that, just rip the label off the cod liver oil bottle and tell her it's flax seed.

Aw now you're just looking for stuff to move/delete.

None of the MA/SD folk post or view the fitness forums, we all suffer from dodgy joints. It's very specific.

I'm sure you're a fine internet... type... dude.. but I don't recall too many problems while you weren't modding here. You're just nannying for the sake of it now.

OP. Google for Flax seed oil. There's a whole load of info there but be wary of some of the bodybuilding sites which seem to advocate taking a tonne of it. Apparently that's no good either.

What sort of training surface does your wife use? Runners, bare feet? Floorboards or matts?

Taking flax seeds and its oil will NOT have the same benefits of Glucos. and chond. or cod liver oil which she should take.

The cracking is telling her that her body needs these essentail fats and cartilage building substances so work on getting her to take them or suffer the consequences of it gradually getting worse.

If she has dry skin, hair or flaky nails then she is certainly fat deficient and needs more DHA and EPA from fish and its oils (have anti-inflammatory properties)

She'd use mat's or runners. Doesn't really train much anymore tho. How do I search for an old thread? one almost a year ago I'd say, where people discussed this with many ideas. Glucosimine is made of some fish product. Not suitable for veggies. Otherwise it'd b perfect

    Found that old thread

People suggesting evening primrose and eskimo oil. I'll check it out.

How veggie is she that she can't take fish oils?

I've used Flax Seed oil and it's hard to drink! Cod Liver oil is nicer believe it or not, and I found the Cod Liver and Evening Primrose Oils good for my joints.

If you go woth Flax Seed oil I'd say a goos teaspoon of it in a shake is the easiest way to take it and is more than enough to take. For a body builders look at it try The Ministry Of Fitness
or Udo of "Udos' Oil" fame.
