I have just been told that Ronaldo has made it clear that he wants out of Madrid. Its still unclear whether this will be in Jan or the summer but he will be going. The favourites are Chelsea and Milan, but contact has also been made with another premiership club.

It was also mentioned that he has a verbal agreement with the chavs.

No source = no credability. Having said that though, it wouldn't surprise me entirely.
    And who are the chavs?

He has come out and said that he is annoyed with the Madrid fans (after they were booed off the pitch against Osasuna):

He has been heavily linked with Inter altough Moratti has said nothing is happening yet:

    http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldFootballNews&storyID=URI:urn:newsml:reuters.com:20051219:MTFH56757_2005-12-19_11-44-14_L19684547:1

Luis Figo claims to know a "secret":

    http://www.goal.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=110131&progr=0

There are no links about him possibly joining Chelsea though. In fact I found this saying he wants to stay with Real:

    http://www.abc.net.au/sport/content/200512/s1533238.htm
"I don't want to leave Real Madrid, how many times do I have to say it? I want to stay at this club for many years to come and I want to win a lot of trophies here," the Brazilian striker said.

Italian newspapers reported this week Real and Inter Milan were planning to do a swap-deal involving Ronaldo and fellow Brazilian Adriano.

"I will only leave Madrid when they decide to get rid of me and I hope that doesn't happen," Ronaldo said.

That said, Chelski could well go for him. Not as if money is an issue

I reckon I'll stick to calling them Chelsea, you're the only person I've ever seen using that term and hopefully it might stay that way. You are aware Chelsea is one of the most upmarket areas in London?

Assuming midget lord is Irish and living in ireland, i fail to understand how he would know just how much burberry and cheap jewellery is consistently worn from distant television pictures. ;) Besides, chav is a derogatory remark and if law is upheld here, will result in bannage.

    cant agree with you there.
He explained he felt there was a "lot of 'Burberry' and discount jewellery in stamford bridge ye know", and chav is a description for such a person wearing these articles.
Saying something like chav sc*m, though, is worthy of a ban.

As much as paddy is to the irish, or scouser is to liverpudlian.

Allow me to break it to you that i am not the only person to refer to chelsea as the chavs, i have heard many refer to them as that.

Besides that is not what this thread is about.

The spanish newspapers ran with the keane to real story as they thought that was going to happen If media was become incredible because of that type of scenario a lot of papers would be out of business.

    Moratti open to Ronaldo return
    Monday 19 December, 2005
Massimo Moratti has refused to rule out a move for Real Madrid striker Ronaldo. "You never know," said the Inter chief.

Speculation surrounding the identity of Inter’s next signing has been ongoing for weeks now. With Obafemi Martins destined for African Nations Cup duty next month, the Nerazzurri have said that they want to bring in a player and the latest name to be mentioned is former Inter star Ronaldo.

Although not quite the force he once was, the Brazil ace still has strength, skill in abundance, a burst of pace and an eye for goal that is the envy of most strikers throughout the world and, with his future at Real uncertain, a return to his old club is not out of the question.

"There was a time when they said that Ronaldo would never leave Inter, but he did," said Moratti. "So his return is not impossible. In this life, you never know…

"It isn’t in our plans but if it were decided that he should return we would have to be sure of his desire and his fitness."

The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year suffered major knee ligament injuries that kept him out of action for almost half of his five-year stint with the San Siro club, but Moratti enjoyed good relations with Il Fenomeno and his club’s President Florentino Perez.

"We have a great rapport with Real," added Moratti. "We have done swap-deals which have served both clubs well in the past and our relationship with Perez is one of great friendship."

Ronaldo has lost favour with supporters of Los Meringues who perceive a lacklustre attitude in their World Cup-winning striker, who has also been unrepentantly injury-prone during his time in the capital.

"I felt like I was playing away from home as usual," said the South American after being whistled in his side’s 1-1 home draw with Osasuna on Sunday.

One person who is a huge fan of Ronaldo is his Brazil teammate Adriano and the Inter striker is keen to link up with the Real star, whom he says wants to return to the San Siro.

"I think that Roni would like to come back," said Adriano on Friday. "Even though he left, he has Inter in his heart. He’s always thought about one day coming back - we could play up front together."

    Ronaldo wants Real Madrid exit
    Tuesday 20 December, 2005
Unhappy Brazil striker Ronaldo has asked to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain.

The two-time World Player of the Year is no longer happy at the Spanish giants, where he has lost popularity among the supporters following a string of below-par performances.

He was reported – by Spanish daily ABC – to have spoken of his desire to leave with outgoing sporting director Arrigo Sachi after training on Monday.

During Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Osasuna, the 29-year-old was again subjected to jeers and boos from sections of the crowd at the Bernabeu and is said to have also been criticised by his own teammates in the dressing room afterwards.

The news is sure to alert Inter, whose owner Massimo Moratti yesterday refused to rule out a move to re-sign their former striker. "His return is not impossible," he said. "In this life, you never know…"

Reports in Italy have suggested today that one of the reasons Inter haven’t followed up on their interest in Roma striker and Real target Antonio Cassano is in order to win favour with Los Meringues and smooth Il Fenomeno’s safe return to the San Siro at the end of the season.

Ronaldo spent five years with Inter between 1997-2002, during which time he had mixed fortunes including a career-threatening injury which kept him out of the game for the better part of two-and-a-half years.

    And there we go.

    So the question now is:

Would you want him at your club?

Here are his recent league stats before people start saying he is crap:

    League stats:

    03/04 - 24 in 32
    04/05 - 21 in 34
    05/06 - 8 in 11

So thats 53 in 77, not bad for a chap thats overweight....

    And there we go.

Don't forget that Ronaldo isn't actually quoted there, and on Saturday said:
"I don't want to leave Real Madrid, how many times do I have to say it? I want to stay at this club for many years to come and I want to win a lot of trophies here," the Brazilian striker said.

Of course I'd like to see him at my club, we still haven't replaced Glen Fitzpatrick.

i was watching clips of him when he was younger just last week. he was unbelievable. im really not a fan now though.

however he keeps popping up with goals and it would be interesting to see how he would do in england. with the high standards the rest of the chelsea squad is setting i think drogba and crespo are struggling to keep up with that standard, so i could see them signing a striker but i would say its unlikely they would sign in january.

Well D4 is actually full of Chavs. :) Have a walk down Ringsend on Saturday night.

There's not many clubs that Ronaldo could join if he wants to challenge for the title unless someone like Juve are willing to stick Ibrahmovic on the bench.

He has always hinted at a return to Inter in the future though..

    So the question now is:

Any club would have to do a cost benefit analysis (admittedly other than Chelsea, where cost seems to have no relevance).

But Ronaldo is 29 and injury prone. Pace will be the first thing to go - the question is when? How much would his transfer fee be? His wages would be at least £100k, I'd imagine.

The only other club in England who might be on the radarscreen for Ronaldo would be Liverpool. So lets pretend for a moment that he might have an interest in playing the the North of England. Would it be a sensible decision for Liverpool to gamble £15m (??) and £100k+ per week on him?? (And the same question would apply for any club interested in him)

I would like United to buy him in a second. He is still one of the best strikers in the world, the best player of his generation imo, and you'd get two really good years out of him.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

I'd love to see Inter buy him cause him and Adriano up front would be class.

Only problem I can see do is the way he left the club. He was 2 years on the sidelines and the club paid his wages. He came back did great at the world cup and forced his way out.

Dont think the fans would want him back.

I'm a big fan of his but I'd rather have Crespo (who replaced him) back

Agree Adriano is like a young Ronaldo, he looks sensational.

Ronaldo has more potential than Adriano in my opinion. Ronaldo was on the world stage at like 18. Adriano is a bit older and a bit clumsier. Gives the ball away a lot and tends to pop up and score a hatrick even when he is playing poorly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,163 ✭✭✭Slash/ED

Surely that's the mark of a good striker!?

Adriano was playing with Parama when he was 18. Might not be as big as club as Inter but they are still a good team. He took longer to break in to the national team cause of the people in front of him.

If Ronaldo hasnt reached his potential now when do you see him doing it? When he is in his 30s? How many World and European player of the years has he won? I think he has fufilled his potential and now he is with a team on a downward spiral and he wants out cause he is been brought down with them.

Having seen them both play live I'd say Adriano can be just as good as ROnaldo. ANd remember Adriano doesnt have dodgy knees so I reckon he came become a better player than ROnaldo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Ronaldo was without a doubt considered by many to be the new pele, an incredible talent.
While Adriano is a very good player, and highly rated, he isn't in Ronaldo's league.

Parama is not Inter and is no way near as big as Inter regardless of what way you look at it. And tough **** if there were people ahead of him. Ronaldo had Rivaldo to compete with along with ROMARIO (Flamengo),EDMUNDO(Fiorentina), BEBETO (Botafogo) in the 1998 world cup. And regarding potential, I am talking about when they were the same age. Adriano is not the player Ronaldo was at the same age. He is leaps and bounds ahead. As for Adriano being as good as Ronaldo, i am not going to dismiss that but i will say from the age of 18, Ronaldo has the better record up to Adrianos age.

Yeah, Adriano wont reach the heights of Ronaldo at his absolute best, like his time for Barca. But he can be as good or better than Ronaldo is now and that's still very, very good.

Ronaldo has won 3 world player of the years ronaldinho 2 and Zidane 2...

I always said Ronaldo was the best player in the world, his touch and control is incredible Adriano doesnt have as much skill but he does have the strength and the shot power...

Ronaldo would be on my dream team straight away only person to come near him is Ronaldinho who at the momentis arguably better...

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

I remember when Adriano made his debut for Inter against Madrid and he scored a wonder goal.

But at the same time he had some world class strikers ahead of him and was loaned out to Parma who would've been well regarded in Italy. What I’m saying is that I don’t think that each of them had the same career breaks but both of them were world class players at a young age but Ronaldo got much more exposure.

Ronaldo may have been better now but if Adriano stays injury free (got a nasty head injury last night but I think he is ok) he can be better than Ronaldo. Last year he defo was with his performances in the Coppa America and the Confederations Cup.

It be interesting how he fares out in the world cup do. I think Ronaldo will get the nod cause he is a class player.

i just skipped reading everyone sposts just to reply to poster.

Ronaldo has come out to say he does not want to leave real madrid so according to the player, agent and club and the fact no other club has anounced any interest, your source is totally inacurate.

Secondly regarding Adriano. If he wants to become one of the best players of all time which he can easily become, move to chelsea. And he will make them the strongest team in the world without a shadow of a doubt.

Adriano is Drogba and Crespo combined, except without drogbas terrible skill. Adriano is powerful, muscly, great in the air ,bag of tricks, polished and a great finisher. I swear to god if he came to chelsea we wouldnt care if they dominated the premiership cause they would be a joy to watch.

Everyone calls them boring but we all forget that last year when they flowed with the best like robben, duff that they were electric to watch them thump 5 and 6 past people. They are a great team and with adriano would be indestructable.

Why would moving to Chelsea make him one of the best players ever?

Crespo hasnt had the same impact at Chelsea as he did at Inter or AC Milan. Chelsea are a savage club and have a great manager but thats not to say that they can make Adriano one of the greats.

Mancini is just as good a manger as any one out thee and he is well able to get the best out of Adriano. Mind you he plays way better for Brizail than he does for Inter so maybe if the national coach was his club coach he'd be benging in 40 a season.

If we were to compare the amount of viewers to each league, youll find that the premiership has most viewers i find. Its one of the major attractions of the premiership.

Most people know all the premiership players, not players from anywhere else, not all them like.

As much as i hate the big headed cokcnyness of the english press regarding " Premiership the best league in the world" it has got the best players.

Wow how can anyone have a bad word agasint Ronaldo! the man is goals pure and simple 20 of them to be exact every full season he plays.

Have seen him live 3 times and hes the laziest ****er i have ever seen until the ball is close to him then hes unnaturally quick and usually gets a shot in.
Wouldnt suit Chelsea as hes a finisher who plays with ball at his feet, barging tru defenders is not his game, play it to his feet at the edge of the box and he will get a shot in.

I reckon hes heading for the PL.
Utd or Arsenal from a footballing point of view, if pool woulnt spend 15 million on Owen they wont on Ronaldo. but also a good signing for them if they went for it Crouch and Ronaldo eh?

I watch Italian football every week. I like it better than English football. As for spanish I dont get to see it an awful lot so cant really say.

The english press hype up the PL. I'm sure the Italian press do the same.

Its all about the style of play.

Maradona was an epic player. Dont think he played in England. Ronaldo too. Zidane as well. I could go on.

Just out of interest when was the last time a british based player won the FIFA World Player of the Year.

I think Spanish and Italian players have one it for the last decade at least.

Arent you seen as a better striker in Italy, than anywhere else? Best defences in the world, hardest league to score in etc. As mentioned, Shevchenko, Ibrahimovic, Cassano etc, they are all proven in italy but nowhere else....they dont really need to go to spain to prove how good they are, defences in spain arent as good.
