What are you doing for New Years?

    Folks,
I'm sick of paying a fortune into places, queuing at the bar for ages and being in a place crammed with people with average music - and all just for an average social occasion. That's why I'm trying to push for a house party (music, god wine and the TV on, with the sound turned down most of the time), but most of my friends are looking to head out.

    What are you doing?

heading out.. but will then have a party to go back to at about 1am.. with closest friends. Like to go out for a few hours and meet people at random that I haven't seen in ages at home, then get away from the madness that is New Years for a nice get together which may last anytime into the wee hours of the morning;)

I hate New Years with an intense passion. I love just watching a dvd round 1130 and ignoring the hype. It's funny as I love xmas, birthdays etc etc

Heading out.. Id only get depressed if I sat in... Iv gone out every New Years Eve the last few years and always had a great night so knock on wood this year will be no different.. I will most likely go to The Picture House (formerly The Palace) :D

Don't think we're going out, way too busy and places will be jammed.

Probably head to the off license, grab a few drinks, and relax at a friends house :)

See everyone thinks that and stays in.. In fact the last few years Iv gone out places have been quieter than usual due to the fact that everyone is of the same opinion that places will be jammers and stays at home or has house parties...

I agree. I am going to portarlington for new years eve. My boyfriend is from port, and we went down last year.
Best craic ever. No Queues, no ridiculous admission fees, cheap drink, pubs are not over crowded.

I guess anyone from Port probably wishes they where celebrating in Dublin, its probably a case of the grass always being greener.... but thats where I will be heading anyhows!

Nothing. I hate New Years. I might turn on a DVD I got a Christmas at about 11PM so I don't have to count down anything.

Dunno yet, probs not going to head out though. After being charged 5.20 for a pint last night in town I think I'll stick to an intimate gathering of friends in a house somewhere. Cheaper, you can chat away and you don't get lost looking for the nitelink home. :D

Been invited to a party, dunno if I'll bother with it... waiting to see if I get any other offers.

staying in. I'm not paying an "admission fee" into a pub, which will be overcrowded and with dodgy music, I hate all that crap.

I'm of to Iceland for New Years. Was there last year. Have a few drinks at the friends house then head to the highest point in the city and watch as the lunatics set off their fire works every where. You get a lovely panoramic view of the city from an old oil refinery that is now a restaurant or something.

I just hope it snows again but that isn’t looking good so far!

Going to Berlin for cheap food, cheap drink, hot friendly girls, 24hr bars etc. etc. If you want a big night out, Ireland is not the place to be.

I'm thinking thats what I will be doing, unless I hear of a party worth going to. Ive only ever enjoyed one New Years in my life, that was in New York at Paul Oakenfold in a huge club. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat night Tony

Ditto, it's so anti-climatic, I can normally be relied on to get into the party spirit but I get TERRIBLY maudlin on NYE and never really enjoy them. It's organised fun at it's best.....
