    yes but only temporarily

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,256 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Without a doubt. It'll give some much needed coffers that hopefully the GAA will invest at local level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,666 ✭✭✭Imposter

Providing it is on the GAA's conditions and it doesn't harm GAA at any level I see no problem. Same goes for other grounds but that has a far bigger chance of harming the GAA at the lower levels.

It should be allowed but only while Lansdowne is being rebuild. When Lansdowne is finished they shouldnt be allowed

Yeah, GAA's terms only tho. And provided they don't sing Ireland's call. The present Anthem is fine as it is

    Excellent condition.

What about the British Protestants who play (or more accurately "warm the bench" though there should be at least one of them in the team by 2007) for the Irish Rubgy team - should we ban them too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭Geg124

That would be a bit harsh to ban them aswell. Its not their fault that they will be playing there instead of Lansdowne.

We will have to wait and see what conditions the GAA come up with

wow! a new and interesting thread. Could ya not just bump an old one or something?

I heard Ben O'Connor of Cork saying how sad it would be to see foreginers togging out in Croke Park. What a tosser, such a narrow-minded attitude. I wouldn't like to be a neighbour asking him for a hand out with something.

Croke Park should be used by the GAA for it's own benefit, i.e. rent it out and reinvest the proceeds.

To the idiots that say it will reduce participation in GAA, I say take a hike. If you are that paranoid about losing young players, go and do something about encouraging them to play GAA, not banning them from other sports. If the only way to keep players in the GAA was to ban other sports then I say boycott the GAA.

Here's to the GAA reaping the benefits from other grounds from rent from other sports and here's to the banishment of all the narrow-minded bigots from the GAA.

Oh, and finally, w.r.t. Ben O'Connor's xenophobic statement? Let him take a look at Sean óg, a foreigner!

Well in all fairness all i can say is.................

    GAA Sucks..........

and soccer is a fair better sport to play and watch

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 stevenhawking

Folks, Croke Park is a state of the art theatre and deserves to be packed out on a regular basis. This only really happens with the All Ireland semi's and finals at the minute so im all for soccer and rugby to be played.
Plus the state of the GAA scene at the minute leaves a lot to be desired, i recently watched louth play meath in front of a packed 2000 capacity crowd....Tripe!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17 BrownFiend

Tripe.. well that wouldnt be hard..

Sure you wont get an O'neills football in any sports shop in Louth or Meath. Both two **** at the sport to make any profits from GAA'Y merchandise!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 Scotchland

    on that note......

Louth have a great chance in the leinster championship this year.......

Reports have it that bookies have slashed their price and are now down to 8/1 to win it and 12/1 to win the all ireland.......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 Ego-boast

Interesting statement "Hawking", however i believe the "english" should stay in the bastion of all english games - Landsdowne Road. Along with rugby and other fairy sports.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 stevenhawking

Oh please, your probably the very one that cheers on some mediocre English team like Blackburn or Newcastle every week. There's nothing better than meeting friends and going to the pub to watch the match eh Ego_boast....

I am a new member of this forum and joined for interesting and intelligent debate about issues relating to GAA the type of people who are posting today add nothing to this forum and put genuine people like myself off posting on this board.

    Get it sorted out !!

    Why shouldnt they be allowed?

At a basic level its just a field with a few lines and a few seats set around it. While it has an unargueable history a large amount (if not all) of that history was formed by an oppressed nation using a ressurected (and in several areas manufactured) "cultural heritage" as a form of resistance, well I hate to break it to you but we havent been a colony in nearly a century and the left over jingoism of those times (in part kept alive by "the troubles") has no place in the modern nation Ireland could become if it wasnt held back by such pointless traditions as disallowing "foreign games" in Croke park.

The fact that it would make financial sense to allow these games in croke park makes the GAA's stance even more laughable.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 Ego-boast

look, the sport of GAA is quite good and does require skill but the state of the bog hopping, potato pickin', cow nipple lickin freaks of women that actually go to the games in support should detair any sane minded individual from ever wanting to succeed in such a sport, i mean your hardly going to want to become so famous that you get to have buck toothed beauties hanging of you for your spandex spread in de farmers Journal when their shoulders are bigger than yours.
All the banter aside good looking birds like normal people , hangin boggers like GAA players, lads realise we're spending fortunes on a statium that single handedly has hearded all of the ugliest women in Ireland into one place, get Osama on de job and we all could benefit.. admittedly a bit controvertial but progressive.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 Ego-boast

i must agree with the wheelchair bound genius here, if your gonna get involved in this thread at least voice an opinion Vodaxmas. As i have stated before Oriel Park should not stage soccer!!!!!!

Which Championship is this?? Hardly the Football Championship, Louth dont deserve to even tog out.... their brand of bogball is a discrace and they should stick to what they know best - spreading of foot and mouth disease thru sheep shagging!

Informative and precise beef1, Louth actually trained in Oriel Park (a soccer ground) a few weeks back, all the fields in the area were waterlogged. GAA using Eircom League grounds, why not the other way round???

Would not lower myself to the type of conversation you morans are having.

    Oh but on Louth

The country’s oldest GAA club is in steady decline. And i can't see anyway back, there were no signs of any corners being turned and the die-hard Young Irelands faithful once more will have to content themselves with reminiscing over great teams and players of the past rather than salivating over anything current or imminent.

I assume you meant MORON!!!! Where did you rip off that last statement from you twat!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2 Heh Gringo

ha ha, it twas me de ego-boast imposter earlier,
i would just like to add to my endless collection of inspirational knowledge on de world in general that the only reason people actually go onto any GAA forum if to slag de useless sport because 9 out of 10 times it will never encounter anyone who actually plays the game according to the fact that they are too busy out bulling cows up de field heh, rather than learning how to use one of these fandangled whosiwhatsits they call computers or learning to read.
LADS SERIOUSLY FEEDBACK ON MY OSAMA SUGGESTION PLEASE...

So as opposed to adressing the arguement you just question my sexuality based on a single statement? How clever and unique of you, Im sure your mothers themselves to sleep each night knowing they brought such worthy people as yourselves into the world.

At least vodamax (despite his evident dyslexia and rampant idiocy) tried to address the topic of discussion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17 BrownFiend

Vodacock, you are obviously no GAA fan cos if you were then you would know that Thurles Sarsfields is the birthplace of Cumann Luthchleas Gael. in organising the famous gealic tournament on easter sunday, 1886 it brought forth the Association..
