Im looking for a supplier of some gym equipment (power rack, heavy duty bench, olympic bar, plates) with reasonable delivery to Ireland. I say this because most of them are based in the UK. Any good irish suppliers out there with good prices? Im only interested in the above items, not 'home fitness' rubbish or treadmills etc. Thanks guys.

    Hi Kazzer,

I'm actually the manager of Star Fitness in Arnotts. I've got everything you need (power rack, heavy duty bench, olympic bar, plates) from a variety of manufactureres and price points. From Marcy to Hampton. Drop me a line and let me know what you need. That said, if its specialist stuff you won't have it before x-mas as I'll need to do a specific order for it.

    pj kiely physique ireland. 061-307921.

he ships through canada and can deal with any company in the us and save you the crazy shipping costs.

if you want serious equipment you need to avoid the usual commercial gym equipment stuff.

look at elitefts.com or pullumsports.com to see good biomechanical design and heavy duty (and i think good prices)

    Boru,
As a matter of interest do you have leg stretching machines not the three prong one but the ones you sit on in stock?

    Try
    www.gymratz.co.uk
OK they're located in the UK but shipping for lightish stuff like power cages and benches isn't that bad. They do a basic Powerline powercage for 199 stg plus shipping. This is a decent, solid, simple piece of equipment. The only criticisms I've heard about this is that the gaps between the liftoff/safety holes are quite large and hence you can't adjust the height of the liftoffs/safeties very precisely. However there may be a way around this - adjust the height of the entire cage by putting carpet, rubber mats, wood etc. under the side of the cage. Gymratz also do a more expsensive cage, the Bodysolid.

As already mentioned VJs do good stuff. Their Powertec powercage looks good and has closer spaced holes than the Powerline. However it costs 750 euro from VJs and they won't sell it without the pulley system part. This adds a lot to the price adn is not a feature I would be very interested in.

VJs do a 140 kg Olympic barbell set for 219. This is the cheapest Olympic set I've seen. The collars that come with it are the crap (IMO) spring collars but that's not a big deal to put right.

Don't forget Argos - York Olympic set for 299, York powercage for IIRC 550.

Then there's Boru's company, TBH I don't know much about what they stock.

There is a place called T+T fitness in Kingscourt Co. Cavan that supplies Keys Fitness stuff. Apparently, Keys do a good but expensive powercage.

Just going slightly OT, I was just browsing Boru's website. I notice that there are loads of punch bags but the weights of the bags are not listed. This would be a useful piece of info to include. If I was buying a bag the main things I'd want to know are
    -dimensions
    -weight
-what's it made of and what's it filled with

Thanks for that guys good stuff there.

    Boru,

Didnt realise you stocked all that. Do you have that sort of stuff on display in Arnotts/anywhere?

    BrianD3,

Thanks, great info there. Was looking at Gymrats, good selection there

    Okay, everyone here we go!

Right first off, RPGGAMER, yeah I can get it. No problems, although we supply home studios mostly, we do the occassional gym outfit and I can get my hands on anything you want within reason. I have a stack of supplier catalogs I occassionaly use for dumbell flyes in work that have everything form Marcy, Body Solid, Power Line, Body Sculptor, Hampton, the lot of it. Hell once I even put in an order for a custiomised rack and leg press cost me a fortune but my god its gorgeous!

Drop in we'll sit down and go through the lot until you find what you want. That said I might not be able to import it at a competive price. I'll do my best but if I can't match the price of another company I can still give you enough info to make your own arrangements. :)

amazingemmet, I don't stock the sit down machines you're reffering too. That said I could get you one. Would I want to...no. I don't like them. As loz said Thomas Kurz stuff is brilliant, as is Pavels stretching material.

Stretching is a huge thing with me and I've trained with Kurz, Pavel and even Bill Wallace. I have all their material, books vides etc which If you want I can show you. As always drop in and I'll go through the techniques they taught me and the ones I teach my students. I'll have you doing roadkill splits in no time!

BrianD3 thanks for the advice. Over the next few days I'l update the website witht the relevant punch bag info. If there's any thing else on the site that you think would help please let me know and I'll do my best to include it. That goes for everybody.

At the moment I've over 483 products on that site which I've had to throw up all on my lonesome...its quite exhausting. Hell, I haven't even got the dvd's in the dvd category yet! Still its getting better.

Finally kazzer, I don't have much of the hardcore gym stuff in Arnotts, the upper management would totally freak! We actually have a dedicated weight lifitng studio out in our Bray branch though where you can see a lot of it.

Is there anything in particular you're thinking of?
