Was just reading this online, made me think of the story about when The Guardian got modern comedians together to ask him one question. Being the wanker that he is Jason Byrne really shamed the nation.

    RIP Richard Pryor

What was the actual cause of death? He had MS didn't he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 582 ✭✭✭damienom

Died of a heart attack in the end according to his ex-wife

Idiot should be shot. I've a couple of Audio CDs of Priors stuff and some of it's up there (almost) with Bill Hicks.

No disrespect. He was one of the best... :(

I heard it was their 3rd or 4th story at ten so I knew they weren't going to give it much. Madonna having a fall gets 5 minutes and the lead story and a comic genius gets 15 seconds. Sky News are like the Daily Sun of news broadcasting.

Has anyone got his other DVD (not the Live In Concert one, t'udder one)? What year did he do it in and is it as good as Live In Concert?

I made a thread in Films before I saw this.

Definantly one of my favourites also.. found myself actually over the last few weeks using and thinking of random quotes from it:

Capt. Braddock: Okay no more bullsh*t
    [to Dave, talking fast]
Capt. Braddock: was there or wasn't there a woman?
    Dave: Are you serious?
Capt. Braddock: Yes I'm goddamn serious.
Dave: Fuzzy Wuzzy was a woman?

    And also:

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'M NOT WHITE?!... DOES DAD KNOW?!" :D

Jason Byrne: You talk about Muhammad Ali in your latest DVD and how frightening it was to be in the ring with him. But do you reckon you could beat him now that the two of you shake like maracas?

    RP: That's your ****in' question?

    disgraceful, but hilarious nonetheless.
    think he's overrated myself.

    1) It is just not funny
    2) It is highly offensive
    3) It shows that the tit Byrne does not understand the difference between Parkinsons disease (Ali) and MS (Pryor).

What's the chances that anyone will be posting on a bulletin board in 50 years time lamenting the passing of Jason Byrne? Ooooh about zero, I reckon.

bit of an interview with him here

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,7945-1126458_1,00.html

also his site has a big graphic at the top, "I aint dead yet motherfu(ker", which made me laugh a bit.. he probably would have found it funny too...

A very funny man who suffered a lot. Married 7 times, 7 mothers-in-law.

Had to have a great sense of humour to live through that.

    Great lines. :D

Richard Pryor was a wonderful talent. I was suspecting that the end was coming soon, his MS was getting staedily worse over the last while. May he Rest in Peace.

There might not have been much about him on Sky News, but there was an awful lot of talk about his passing on CNN. At least they respected him.

I wish I could have seen the (very short lived) 'Richard Pryor Show' from the Seventies.
