endurance man, afaik it is ILLEGAL for clubs to refuse entry to persons under 21 (but who are over 18, of course!)

The Liquor Intoxicating Act of 2003 amended Section 15 of the Equal Status Act 2000 such that licensed premises may refuse to serve alcohol to persons under 21. However it does not amend the Act such that licensed premises may refuse entry to those under 21.

A friend of mine contacted the Equality Tribunal and has an e-mail from them stating more-or-less what I have above. Basically, a premises can choose to refuse to serve those under21 alcohol at its bar, not at the door. I think.

I've just sent the Tribunal an email myself just to confirm.

That was a little OT rant.
