Girl punk bands

Its really irritating that there are not that many decent girl bands around like you always hear of bands like " chewing on tinfoil " and all like guy bands and all but you never hear of a band with a girl singer I just don't get it. If you do no of any good girl punk bands tell me!:o

They won't be covering any greenday songs any time soon though, so you should probably stick with chewing on tinfoil.

I know a punk band from clonsilla,who have a girl lead singer. they dont get many gigs but play a lot of charity gigs and battle of the bands, they are called juice head.

Theres a load of italian punk gil bands or with girl singers, No Relax is one, Punx Crew (well a few of their songs anyway) can't think of the others now as the names are Italian!!

There's loads of the punk bands with female members - the Distillers being the obvious big example, but there's a pretty good hardcore punk outfit kickabout about in Belfast called Contraband that's got a female lead too.

I personally think the Distillers are bloody awful! You don't have to scrape the barrel to find female punks bands. For example The Gymslips (thanks Teresa)!! They were part (the only part maybe) of a subculture called Renees. The main interests of the typical Renee seem to have been beer and chips! I'm in, who's with me?!:D

I dunno about that. Their latest album's not that great, but Sing Sing Death House is definitely one of my favourite albums - 28 mins of raw power! Its up there with Inflammible Material as one of my favourite punk albums.

Oh and is this thread looking for Riot Grrrl or just Punk Bands with female members. Anyway you could check out the new up and coming genre of punk:Femme Fatale. Look for Civet! Although part of me(the riot grrrl part) kinda disagrees with it.....seems to be sex selling music......meh......maybe Im wrong

I'm not really sure if they're punk, but Sleater Kinney are an incredible, amazing band. I also second the Sonic Youth recommendation- Kim Gordon is a wonderful vocalist (check out diRty).

If u want an irish band with a girl in it try the spungoes or IXlives.... they're kinda the most obvious.. Emily have a girl singer but they're hardly punk. Please don't listen to sleeter-kinney. it's like taking everything bad about bikini kill and sticking it in a boring band! I hate to say it but most girl punk bands are ****..... it hurts me to admit to it but it's true... Nausea and Antischism are ****ing deadly n have a girl in it for a fair bit of the time. Queena dreena are really good...L7 are meh and there's always bands like hole n the yeahyeahyeahs... blatz are pretty cool too

They sound exactly like bikini kill except they're completely ****. Bikini kill had their charms but sleeterkinney are boring. Just their music and presence I just find blah.... and they just seem so middle aged
