Oh and didn't I ban you? That's right it was a temporary ban, but then you went and did this in feedback: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=3375464&postcount=10

Hmm.. what is it they say about leopards? Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's applicable in your case

    Toodles

    well done Educat :)!

it's not that hard if you know how many m2 one floor is and multiply it by 8 (number of floors in Usher). or you could just try guessing. obviously if the questions we're too easy the thread would be a bit pointless.

name the last 3 provosts in trinity

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 793 ✭✭✭xeduCat

'Head class rep', basically. For some time, there's been a convenor per faculty, elected at the end of the year by all the reps in their faculty (or in TSM). They sit on the SU's executive and on University Council, and used to (under the old system) be on faculty executives as well. The GSU does something along the same lines.

Under the new college structures, there are also 'school convenors', which for now are elected by the reps in their school at the start of the year, who sit on school executives.

The more general use of convenor is as a softer version of chair or organiser ;) so political parties or groups that don't believe in leaders often use the term :P

Now I get minus 2 points for geek tendencies?

Wow...that's a detailed answer... but you should get a plus 1 point for being so helpful (and there's nothing wrong with being a geek - 20 years from now the people that were laughing at you will be cleaning your pool!) :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,110 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

...we don't know the last 3 provosts in Trinity... since Trinity is still in operation! I should get some points for that answer right?

I have an unfair advantage cause of being on the college board until recently! 80m as a block grant, plus money for 'free fees' (somewhere around 25m). Supposed to go up by 7% next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,110 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

I thought the free fees money only amounted to €1942500 at max? (taking an average of 2500 students paying €777)...

    More money for Trinity? Yay!!!

That's not free fees money. Free fees money is the amount given by the Government to third level colleges based on numbers, i.e. to replace what would have been pre-1995 tuition fees (although there is a big problem in that increases haven't kept up with wages or costs). It's in or around what is set as the 'EU tuition fee' by colleges, as opposed to the 'non-EU tuition fee', which supposedly represents the actual cost of college (not necessarily accurate).

The 775 is either paid by the student or by a local authority as part of education grants - it's not accounted for in the block grant or in the fees money, because it gets to colleges indirectly. From a budget point of view, it's in the 'student support' section.

If it's student support then how come we don't get it? Wasn't there some campaign to show what our money was being used for? e.g. the €50 thing yesterday...
