Hi all. As you know im First Arts (grimes ducks rotten apples and veg thrown by all other posters) and the first set of Xmas exams is starting for us unfortunate modularised.

Now I only have one gripe which im may be stupid for posting about but my first two history exams are scheduled for thursday 1st and friday the second. This seems a bit early to me as the semester isnt even over yet. Im currently bogged down in archaeology and havnt got a chance to open a book for tomorrows exam yet today. Also for the exam I actually have to miss my last 4-5 lecture in order to make it to the exam center on time. Is that normal??

it's probably normal for modularisation!!! seriously though start studying for them now you can always get something done, you probably would have heard if they were cancelled or whatever

    good luck with them

I'm so dead for history. I also have an info studies assignment, worth 70% of my grade, in on friday. Damn me and my reliance on cramming:mad:

Yeah it's bloody sh!te, this site says that the exams are from the 12th, yet ours are before the revision week -- and during the term! It makes no sense -- did the history department forget that we have 4 other exams to poxy study for? arse.

A fiver!? Were I an invigilator I'd be inclined to take offence at that!

"You there! The cheap one banging your head on the table. Stop disturbing people"

Hope it went well for you today & best of luck tomorrow too.

Depends, what course are you doing?
The kind of modularisation they bring in for us next year (if they do go ahead with it) is going to be a 'modularisation-lite' kind of thing.

Yeah I'm really interested. I'd love if we i had the weekend to.....well....eh make it good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭john^doyle

wtf? an extension? this is IS10020 yeah?

i just finished stapling all my stuff together

essay and bibliography = 12 pages
    journal = 15 pages

i want them to suffer as much as they made me suffer in those lectures.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Waltons

Yeah I'm really interested. I'd love if we i had the weekend to.....well....eh make it good.
We do have the weekend. Monday, 3PM :D

Edit: Christ, 12 pages?! How many words is that???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭john^doyle

yeah i went way over the limit on word count (by 900 words) - thatll teach me to check how much i've done when i think i'm halfway thru. 2400 words - bibliography is like 5-6 pages long.

michelle said it would be alrite tho (as long as its all relevant)

she's got the funniest voice. "yoooo guyzz" :)

To make it good?? How about, in my case, to start it! :D
    Thank god we do!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Waltons

Ah right, that's fair enough then. I had images of a 4000 word essay

She does have a pretty funny voice!
Which essay topic did you have?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭john^doyle

    investigative journalism & political corruption

i think it was one of the more difficult ones.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭john^doyle

oh and btw - the reason mine took up so many pages was because the lines were double-spaced.

she said she gets pissed off when people have all the lines jammed up together and will give you a crap mark. she leads a double life as one of santa's elves too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Waltons

Did you double space the bibliography? She said today that we shouldn't...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭john^doyle

i missed the lecture today because i had a computers & info sys test in Quinn.

i didnt double-space the biblio. because i had spaced it out already so it would be easier to read, i think it looks alright.

they gave the extension in todays lecture i'm guessing? the one lecture i dont turn up for... pfff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Waltons

Ah grand, just thought I'd give you a heads up in case you had.
Yeah, it was today's lecture she gave the extension in. She didn't have the second lecture either.

Edit: Christ, 12 pages?! How many words is that???

13 words. Name on first page and 1 to each other page :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,088 ✭✭✭Ruskie4Rent

I'm so happy, looking at all the effort some have you made it looks like i'm gonna need this weekend to fix this up. I managed to get just under the word count. I'll try bulk it up.
I did Investiigative Journalism and Political Corruption too. It's not the best one, I think. It's sonded interesting at first but my essay is based alot around poltical corruption in Ireland:confused: worst essay ever!!!!
Any reason behind our extension or did she just have a sudden bout of coolness?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

Are you guys sure there's an extension? On the essay and the journal thing?

I don't do the course, but my girlfriend does, and I texted her to tell her about the extension -- it'd suck if there wasn't actually one :p

    Confirmation?

Yeh that was my one aswell so we must have been in the same tutorial group :)
I totally agree with you about it being one of the more difficult ones!
The others seemed way easier but I didn't bother to change.

Its a small world! I'm a bit worried though abbout the extension cos I missed the lecture! I might just hand it in today!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,016 ✭✭✭Blush_01

I hate essays. That's why I'm procrastinating. I have no idea how to write them until I'm in the middle of them, and this sh!te about making up my own seminar question when the seminar was on something I really don't like it making me want to kill all poets everywhere. Beware.

Hey, at least I don't have exams!

    Yet.

Were you the guy that used to always come in late and Michelle used to go mad when you did turn up?! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 955 ✭✭✭LovelyHurling

    Is this Michelle goodlooking?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭john^doyle

haha yeah she used to go mad at that chap. especially the day he went "sorry i'm late i couldnt find somewhere to park my car" - the look on her face haha

she did not like him at ALL

nah, i'm tall and i wear glasses (most of the time) and i went to every tutorial so you would probably know me.
i always thought it was pretty funny that at that start of the tutorial she'd read out a list of about 30 people that were supposed to be in it and there'd be only like 8-9 of us.
    Is this Michelle goodlooking?

i wouldnt kick her out of bed for eating crisps :D

Yeah that was funny! But hey can you blame those people for not turning up? Not like those tutorials were of any use!

I think I know who you are now, still not sure though

Yeah, most people didn't turn up for them but they're worth percentages! That's the only reason I went to them.:v:
