Getting upgraded to first class ... any tips?

So I am heading to Australia for 10 days. 21 hours non-stop. Qantas. I am there for such a short time that I simply can't tolerate jet-lag!! Any advice on blagging my way into first class? I'm travelling alone, will that help? Should I ask in Dublin, or in Frankfurt? Or - Failing that - what's your top tips for sleeping on…

Why don't you sickos stop whingin about upgrades and such and take what you paid for..... Would your company hand out $1000 worth of product just because some smart ass tried a blagfest at point of sale....get freakin real for chrissakes
