The Worst Looking Car In the world

I found this car on a volvo website a while ago, it without doubt has to be the worst looking car ever,

Its hard to beleve (or not) that this car was the concept of a volvo 240 series.

Any other crap looking cars that you know of?

In fairness it looks in line with the style of the 70's ish. Modern **** looking cars look no further than fiat and anything with an engine size less that 1.3l

One of the worst looking cars of all time has to be the current Daewoo/Chevrolet people carrier yoke. Absolutely hideous. So bad that I'd rather have a Vanden Plas Allegro.

I wouldn't say the BMW X5 is that bad looking in my opinion, granted a lot of the Jap. SUV's are pretty awful alright. I always liked older boxy Volvo's, I think Volvo lost the plot nowadays with their crappy looking Renault based yokes. It's certainly getting harder to find an attractive looking car at the moment as they're all starting to look like each other or else look hideous.

i.e new volvo s40 is based on the new ford focus

Nonsense, I do like Beemers. Previous shape 5 series is a handsome car, in an understated kind of way. Ditto the previous 7. Not beautiful, but handsome. 3.0 CS is beautiful. Old shape 635 striking. 2002 cute. New 5, 6 and 7 are just plain ugly. Z3 is laughable. I struggle to come up with a word for the X5 without throwing up.

There is a small hatchback going around with big bug eyes - not sure if its Daihatsu or Kia or whatever but it is one of the worst.
I also saw this Daihatsu which looks as if it came from a Mr. Magoo cartoon

Does anyone here work in the square in tallaght? On the roof in the staff car park theres a crazy looking car van thing that hasnt moved in years. I havnt a clue what it is but I walk passed it everyday when I park my car. I'll try take a pic in the morning.

I was going to mention the Micra, along with the Almera and to a lesser extent the new Primera but decided against it as there are plenty of Nissan drivers here and I couldnt be arsed reading all the posts disagreeing with my view!

Well, it's not worse-looking than a multibleh, so it can't possibly rate as (OP) "The Worst Looking Car In the world" ... possibly a close second, but IMHO there's much, much worse in the thread already.

That said, I have driven a rental 1.6L of those, and I reckon that I would not have had to flog a 1.0L Fiesta to climb hills anywhere near as much

Yeah the Yanks can turn out a larger amounts of "Misses" than "Hits". Lots of Classic designs but some weird stuff too. I cant help thinking that the Malaysians and BMW have just decided to target Americans !

Erm... I'm assuming that you have seen one for real, haven't you? It's too big for the body lines; it's too square, wide and high on wheels to be a sportscar and...well... it just doesn't work (although it's hard to put into words, granted). Kind reminds me of a SUV that's been squished then smoothed, but the SUV parentage still shows somehow... Yurk!

Disagree with the Mirage as well, note. Not that's I find it nice at all, it just belongs in the "look how bland my designers can get me" bin with the others - i.e. not worth a second look (in admiration or disgust, so not a worst-looking car)

Admittedly, cars like

have been modified slightly from the original design spec. However, for several hour's worth of 'Oh no, they didn't', go to the Top Gear Carbage site.

My contenders.. Multipla is definitely high on the list. Aztek has also been shown, which actually was advertised by some salesrooms as "Ugly to look at, but a heck of a good car". PT Cruiser is another one already mentioned, as was the last generation Scorpio. Unfortunately, Ford didn't pay attention, and just built a convertible version of it with the T-Bird.


Not that Chevrolet have done any better with the SSR Pickup.


Or Plymouth, with the Prowler, although I guess it is kindof funky.


Not all American designs are horrible. Ford and Chrysler/Dodge have one or two good ones out right now.
