was walking my friend on scr dub 8 to windsor motors to get him a taxi. was about half one quarter to two in the morning(sat night sun morning). got him a cab, on way back to my brothers, i came across a lad witha dog at the grotto at rialto bridge flats , he made chit chat as i was walking back, i chatted back trying to get away but not trying to flee from him as i felt he was up to no good, he ended up setting the alsation on me and taking my wallet which was fine as i had my money in my pockets, not my wallet. seemingly he works this trick around the inchicore to rialto area. my legs pretty well bitten up but not torn or anything thanks to the jeans.

if anyone is around this area please be vigilent and walk in groups or call a taxi to where you are, satellite cabs area always good. the gardai know him well but can do nothing about him apart from the case i am going to bring against him, am pissed that i will have to get a dog put down as i am an animal lover big time but once it has been trained to attack people theres no choice. seemingly he has attacked gardai with dogs too and nothing has been done to date.

am glad i kept staring at him to get a god look at him, wanted to keep eye contact as best as i could,.

i know alsations well enough (my parents have some) to konw she was not fully grown but very well trained to attack and generally very well trained, he ran from me after the dog and him got me on the ground and she held on to my leg until he called her off.

please beware and if you know anyone in the area warn them please as was a really nasty experience. pic of my left calf added, thank god i was wearing heavy jeans!!!

    E.

ps if you spot the guy, 5 8 med build, light brown hair, short not cropped, blue green eyes, with 18 month (female) german shepard call kilmainham station. they are dying to talk to him!!

i wouldnt like to see a dog get put down, but rather given to a better home.
but the owner, should of being punished, and afterall does he pay a dog licience, cos they can take it away from you if you dont.

well we have to have one, especially for a doberman dog.
    im not sure about catdogs.
In order to obtain a dog licence, you must be over 16 years of age. It is an offence for you to keep a dog unless you have a licence. All dogs over four months must have a licence. Puppies under four months who are still with their mothers don't require licences but once they leave their mothers they must have a licence. Your dog must be accompanied by and be under your effective control or the control of another responsible person if it is outside your home or premises or the home or premises of the person in charge of it. You can be requested by a dog warden to produce evidence of your dog licence and failure to do so can result in an on-the-spot fine. Failure to pay this fine within a specified period can result in prosecution by your local authority. Licences are not required for dogs in the possession of the County Council, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Gardai, blind persons' guide-dogs, and any dog imported into the State for less than 30 days.

not really inforced, but if a case came up in court, over your incident this can be shown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Get it put down, cos next time the dog may kill. As for the "family dog" BS, say that it a danger to the family, and should be put down.

Oh, and the dog I have has a license.

Sorry to hear about that. That has to have been an awful experience, knowing he was up to no good, just waiting for something to happen. Vulnerable is the word.

I take it that you got a tetenis injection if you got 15 puncture wounds from that dog. Please say you did.

Some advice on dealing with an attacking dog just in case you find yourself in a similar situation: Run fast you won't get away its just to buy some time take off your jumperand wrap it around your arm making sure to cover your hand then stop and "offer" your wrapped arm to the dog hopefully it'll bite and the jumper will give you some protection while the dog is latched on to your arm try stick your fingers in its eyes or kick it hard in the throat, or break its neck if you feel up to it.

It's been a VERY long time (in doggy years) since dogs were allowed a "first bite". Did not realise a judge could overrule that.

Let me guess, being a family pet also means it doesn't need the ID chip that are mandatory for all guard dogs in country

Nest time the dog comes for you, punch it very hard in the mouth... IE, wait till it opens it's mouth to bite then punch it very very hard in the mouth. That should kill it.

lol you'd want to be some contortionist to kick a dog in the throat while it's latched onto your arm...even assuming you can pull a jumper over your head mid- sprint.

:v: < remember, all dogs are afraid of hoovers, so make loud sucking noises

If a dog latches onto your arm, its easy to say do x and y, but its impossible when the said animal is attacking you.

If you can, try either bring your fist down on top of its nose or into the side of its head....

Love to hear more about this scumbag. Let us know when you have more info

Not that hard to do if your sober but if your locked you'll probably end up in a heap with a dog attached to your nuts.
Maybe i should of added that in as a disclaimer

Another tale of how to kill a dog attacking you is to catch its front legs and splay them as quickly and strongly as you can. Apparently the dog will die of shock.

Yeah with all this talk of dog attacks... would ya not just give the dog a good hard kick... Easier said than done I know, but I know if a dog ever came for me id punch it as it went to attack, and if that didnt stop it id just kick it when attacking

And no, im not being cruel, I love animals, but not when theyre trying to have you for dinner

i was trying to keep the cynt between me and the mut, i know well how ot offer an attacking dog the sleeve and she went for it but threw her off and then she went for my legs,

bambi - tried jamming my fingers into the dogs eyes but her head was constantly shaking and shipting

as regards jamming your fist down the throat - you must be mad - if you can its best to grab the lower and upper jaw and wrench apart.

may have to go to the shinners to get it sorted out which is really depressing

ya thats why my mate bit him was lucky to hit his target with the dog wriggling and all can a group of us not just hang around and wait for him then "take care of him"

i dont justify vigilancy(spelled wrong sorry)but in this ever increasing madness can we not at least take the mad nutters out of the equation?

    You can run or fight.

In times of fear, you may get an extra energy boost (Note: your fúcked if your a smoker), and you may gain some yards, possibly into someone porch, and close the door after you. If the people in the house threaten to call the gardai, say you'll give them a euro if they do.

As for standing and fighting, its not very clever, but if you've nowhere to run to, get angry, shout abuse at the dog, stamp your foot aggresively on the path, and try to kick the dog in the head. No dog has ever attacked me, but the closest I've been would be one of those big brown dogs barking at me, grownling, and approaching. I yelled at it, and when it took a step back, I charged. Dog ran away. Saying that, I'm 6 foot tall, and was wearing a trenchcoat. Dogs don't like the trenchcoat. Esp if I flap it like a big bat.
