I haven't done any debating yet this year but I'm pretty sure I will be. I did debating in English (as well as a small bit in Irish) last year though.

Jedi debates? Hmm....Yeah, I debate in english, but when I say debate I mean get so horribly nervous that I shake so much I can't read my notes. Saying that, I keep doing it, and I'm going to EYP (european youth parliament) Anyone else going?

JEDI = Junior English Debating Ireland
I get so nervous too, standing up infront of everyone...But I still keep doing it too for some reason! What exactly is the EYP, how did you get involved in it?

My school doesn't seem to do debating. There's some Rotary Youth Public Speaking thing they do, but only some students do that and nobody knows how in the first place, 'cause they tell us nothing.
Bit of a shame, 'cause I'm oddly calm with speaking in front of people.

I'm part of the debating committee in my year. We have a debate once every 2 weeks or so. Oddly enough I haven't debated in my school, merely organised them. I wouldn't mind doing it, and I fully intend to, but I may have to constrict myself due to my, eh, "reputation."

why should your reputation have anything to do with debating in any shape or form

Roe, why aren't you allowed go watch? That's...strange....Jakkass, can you go back and edit your post so that it at least mentions transition year? for legal reasons. You understand.

it wont let me edit the top post im afraid. and I can only edit the post if it is the last one posted, sorry for inconvenience (which post btw)

Never mind, just try relate things to TY in future.

Example: does anyone here do debating? Because fourth year allows you to try different things like Concern debates and EYP.

    Or some crap like that.

Well TY has given me more time to do more things in general to be honest like taking part in the musical and doing the irish debating in the first instance

It's too boring an explanation for me to bother writing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

Seriously? I must go to that. What year in my school are you debating?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,878 ✭✭✭Rozabeez

    Probably 4th or 5th....not sure!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner

Not 4th. I would know about it. The 24th you say? Very good. Is it in my school or in yours? Or in some 3rd party place?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,878 ✭✭✭Rozabeez

    3rd party place....that's why I can't go!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭Hugh Hefner
