Which would you prefer, no crowd or slowdown?

Thats why they had to take it out of the PS2 version. And before you say something about it being the PC and it can handle it etc... the PS2 is the home format of the game, the PC is a straight port, until Konami treat the PC like a seperate game, you'll be stuck with the PS2 problems.
