    Okay heres the details:

    BPM: 170

    Key: E-Minor

Wants: Vocals, bass, intro solo, some solo style riff for second half of verses, beefing up of chorus, solo after first chorus, main solo and backing guitar for the solo (no guitars are recorded where main solo will go (cept for one tiny bit which can be removed) as i'd want people to have the backing to fit their solo and not constrain them. Recording quality isnt that high as I was only starting to write this tonite and people want to sleep so I was kinda time constrained, but a higher quality recording will be done and drums made more human like.

Backing: Here, a temporary link for now.

Where to send files: Ill sort out something tommorrow, I might host an ftp for songs and also have all the software from the free resources thread hosted in it aswell.

    Structure: Intro riff 1 + 2/Verse/Pre chorus/Chorus/Intro riff 1/Verse/Pre chorus/Chorus/Solo/Verse/Pre chorus/Chorus/Outro

Tabs will be written on request.

EDIT: Drums updated, a bit better now. Clean guitar removed from solo section.

EDIT2: Intro 1 riff has been filled out, I wont update this for a while now so people dont have to download the song again again :p

Excellent, on the provision that im not on the lock tommorrow ill try to sort out an ftp and a higher quality recording, also I might seperate the parts (i.e have an mp3 off just the verses, another for the solo etc etc so people can loop them and play along!)

pretty damn cool track man.. whats your setup for recording?? coz its pretty good.. im guessing thats thats a drum mechine right? coz if its not then who evers drumming should... like.. i dunno.. do something haha.. im too tired

might think about doin some vocals when when its comes near to ending.. were you thinking distored or clean vocals?

My setup is partially explained here. I can get quite good results outta it with enough effort and tis very affordable, cant mic up a drumkit with it though :( (have v-drums for that :) ) The drums here are a vst plugin called Groove Agent, can sound quite realistic when you adjust the velocity on the hits to mimic a real drummer etc (example here, thats all in midi ). If I get the chance to re-record the guitar properly tommorrow i'll fix up the drums!

pretty funky setup man.. you know the cheap behringer mixing thingy you have? how do you power it? and would it work if you plugged in a micced up amp directly to that then into your comp?

the one thing that annoyed me about the drums was the snare roll sounded very odd.. too loud and because it was a drum machine it didn't sound like a roll.. just like hitting it with the same stick.. if ya get my meaning...

i'll listen to the song as it progresses and she if something comes to mind about the vocals.. if someone wants to write lyrics theyre welcome coz im too lazy

Its powered by an AC adapter

Thats what I do, I plug my SM57 mic into the mixer and then plug the main out of the mixer into the line in of my soundcard.

Totally! There are some timely measures to make programmed beats convincing and unless a physical drummer wants to step in I will continue to work on the beats and hopefully in the end will be able to fool all non-drummer folk :p

EDIT: Song re-uploaded with slightly improved drums, esp double bass drum sections.

Places where I originally planned to put put solos were intro riff 2 (shred solo) , second half of the versus (more rythmical than shred solo), something for the choruses would rock (suprise me) and over the blank bit (anything can be out there, drums can be changed, was almost thinking of just having a backing bass track to the solo and have 2 guitarists working on it, almost like a guitar battle!!!..we'll see what works as this progresses) so take whatever/as many as you want!

Edit: Ive just re-uploaded the song as ive filled out intro riff 1, I'm gonna stop writing the song now and let you's work on the rest of it :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

    That rocks sooooooo hard!

Id love to help you out on that, but im not that forward/fast rockin - not my style!

Although, i think ill put a bass riff over that for the fun, as i could manage something on a bass more so than guitar! any ideas where i can upload to?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 936 ✭✭✭Beecher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

OK ive uploaded a little track, about a minute of the song that i did on the bass - i dont play bass, im a guitar player, just so happens i have a loan of a bass :s

Its very rough, its not sharp, and the bass itsself is pants! I tend to play slower stuff on the guitar, this is by far 2x faster than anything i have ever recorded so cut me some slack ok? haha

    http://rapidshare.de/files/7628962/bass.mp3.html

it says its here, but i cant see it :(

so could we mix whats there together provisionally just to see how it sounds???

    jcoote wrote:

Did it already, but the bass is way to high! Its bleeding or something, doesnt sound right, its like theres a chorus pedal over it or something and the levels change, so it sounds pap :(

i thought he would want the bass on its own so he could mix it himself hehe

here it is anyways... i wasnt going so much for the perfect rythem, just trying to find what notes to dance around when i did it :v:

    http://rapidshare.de/files/7630161/bass_and_guiatr.mp3.html

Im sure if i got a loan of a mates bass i could do a better quality one, with better rythem and what not

I ashamed i uploaded that, i have a MUCH Better riff - rocks harder imo! I dont have time to work on it tonight, i think the earliest i can do it is friday - but i will look at them tabs - that will definitly help me structure something alot more harder rockin!

Expect something on saturday from start to finish with (please god) good quality sound.. Ill do my best to get a good bass on loan to record it!

Or do you need it asap? Coz i have sh1t loads of college work to do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

Dude im loving your riffs so far, its really chunked up the chorus etc. Take your time with it, sure I have to start my massive college project tommorrow so my time will also be compromised during weekdays

Haha thanks! I've always liked that style of guitar just never had a chance to play it coz i tend to play alot of qotsa, mark langegan, death from above 1979 and so on.. Im just glad i got my foot in the door soon enough, i really think that riff of yours has bucket loads of potential, i just hope i can do it some justice :v:

I really have a more driving riff for the 1 min area of your song, if i had a full day to work on it, the whole song would be made up of loads of different riffs, but im sure you want something a little more simple to show someone else how to play or something heh...

I know it doesnt sound right, but on the intro theres a hint of funk - i wanna bring some funk into the bass, but still keep it rockin!

How long did it take you to write that guitar riff? i think its the balls :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

i am uploading my solo now but i have it with the track so u can tell me what u want before i post the wavs. I put bass on it just to match my riff but obviously can be taken off. There is a fair bit of bass eq on the track which is my bad, Just didnt allow for the error in my monitors. Its posting now so i will link it in a min

doesnt leave any room for other people really though in that solo. Will remove the bass and change some riffs if u want. Just brainstorm on it and see what u want

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

really missed my wah for that opening phrase and wasnt sure bout that tap (quiet bit). You can barely make out the left hand solo. Eq is miles off to beeches too so if you wanna take a different solo bud coz it wont be til wednesday before i get to fix all that stuff. That guitar sound is completely different to his, its really obvious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

    wow! Nice shred! :DD

Im gonna record my riff from start to finish, i have to hear it all together! That sounds amazing! you lads get mint sound quality, mine sounds pap :v:

You must fill me in on your secrets! ok, im recording........ now *shhhh*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

urgh, took me 7 minz to upload that :v:

recorded it in 2 takes! woohoo! Still a rough bassline - i see sei in all his grace decided to leave his bassline in!!

I cant normalise this at all for some reason - heres the pooey bass on the track with the sei's face melt
