Does where you choose sit on the bus give you a label? Where abouts do you normaly sit on the Bus and is there any reason for sitting there or is it Just random?

I always sit down the back of the Bus in the mornings with the aul feet up across the seats. Nothing in the world is more comfortable.

2 seats from the back on the right. :P

Right behind the stairs (up top) gives slightly more leg room, but in the mornings I'm too sleepy to think about where I'll sit, and in the evenings there's never much selection.

I usually sit in the nearest empty seat. And no I dont think it labels you, wherever you choose to sit.

My 145's have lately been missing the second last row of seats on the top, meaning gallons of leg room on the last row! ;)

    Top deck, front seats.

You can see the world passing by, and you also get a handy "table" for resting phone, paper etc.

Down the back, it's the only place one can enjoy a cigarette in peace these days :v: :v: :v: :v:

Preferably near the front upstairs (the only bus I get is the 75 and you do not want to sit down the back of that).

Close the the stairwell if posible on the top deck, esp if I have me kids with me
bad enough having with put up with idiots smoking on the bus ciggies and joints
down the back with out having to expose my kids to it.

upstairs on the left (i.e. opposite side to the stairs) *always*...can't be doing with the right side at all!! about 6 rows back, i.e. a couple of rows back from the stairwell entrance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,184 ✭✭✭✭Pighead

Usually sit beside wherever the best looking chick on the bus happens to be.I love to chat with them.Sometimes they don't chat back to me but I don't mind because i'm too busy loving the bus journey.
I like that I don't have to pay attention to the road. I like that I can look out the window at people, buildings and streets. I like that by riding the bus I leave certain things up to fate - you never know when exactly the bus is going to come or if it's going to come at all. I like being flexible like that.

I sit at the bottom just before the stairs. Dunno why. I only get it on wet days. on the way home i usually have to stand on the 130/42B

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,287 ✭✭✭NotMe

3 or 4 seats from the back upstairs on the left :D hate sitting on the right...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 771 ✭✭✭spiderlegs

Up the top is the comfiest on the left...you've less chance of sitting beside young kids because normally parents are too scared to let their kids go up the 'dangerous' stairs. When the bus is packed though I'll sit anywhere!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,391 ✭✭✭arbeitsscheuer

Up the stairs, right next to the stairs... Maybe one row further forward. There's a thing for me to rest my foot on that isn't anywhere else. Honestly.
Well, it's on certain buses, not really the newest ones but anyway. That's generally where I sit.

When I'm going into college in the mornings I sit on the top about half way back on the left. Coming home at the very front of the bus on the left or if that seat's gone, then on the right about half way back. I dunno, it's weird. Then if I'm getting night link or last bus I sit downstairs and near the front cause I'm generally getting it on my own and just feel generally safer

First floor, at the back. Loads of room usually.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,109 ✭✭✭muckwarrior

On top, behind the stairs. That way you get a good look at all the honeys comin up and down ;)

Same here... on coaches its a different matter, about 3 or 4 seats down on the left... i dont know what it is about the left, i feel more secure.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,773 ✭✭✭Binomate

Upstairs at the very front on the right hand side you can look down at the drivers eyes and freak him out a little throught he persicope thing, well on the old buses anyway. I used to do this a lot as a kid.

Either in the first four rows in front of the stairs upstairs. Downstairs (usually on the last couple of buses ;) ) around 3 rows back on the driver's side or if cold at the seat directly in front of the radiator / engine thingie. ah sweet warmth eases the pain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,480 ✭✭✭projectmayhem

upstairs left hand side, first empty seat next to a window i can find. usually have to stand coming home though :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 503 ✭✭✭OMcGovern

I sit up the front downstairs.

    regards,
    Dublin bus driver

Upstairs, about 3 or 4 seats down on the left. You can get off the bus really quickly from this point if you're in a hurry and there's a good chance you'll get a good-looking woman beside you as it's so close to the stairs. (The trick is to look preoccupied by looking out the window or by reading a book;) )

Could you keep your feet off the seats please. It genuinely increases maintenance costs, as interior refurbishments have to be done more often. Thanks :)

Upstairs at the front is my preference by the way.

When I used to commute, on my first bus (Bus Eireann) I used to sit on the fold-down chairs across from the stairs as I'd be getting off before everyone else (into and out of town). On the second bus (19/19A/83) I'd stand as it was only a short trip.

anywhere near the front downstairs as I live only 3 stops from O' Connell st

Surely sitting on it would do more damage in that case.

top right, above the driver, on the outside of the seat. nobody ever tries to get in past you for the window seat

    Yep, that's me too! :D

I f*cking hate when there's barely anyone on the bus, I go to the back, put up my feet and stuff, and then at the next stop a load of people get on and decide that THEY want to sit at the back too!

Pretty annoying -- JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

    F*ckers... lol

How so...? I wouldn't put my faeces-covered hiking boots up on the seat, but resting my legs on it doesn't cause any problems... They weigh less than my ass, and I don't rub them together and try tear the seat.

Aye, I hate sitting upstairs cos when (on the off-chance) it's sunny, it blares right in my eyes, and it's really uncomfortable and stuff. And there's often people smoking up there. And it feels like being on a boat often times.

    Ugh.

i only get bus eireann buses. they are so much nicer. that horrible smell of engine, and dust that you get on dublin buses is vomit inducing.

the best bus eireann buses are the ones they contract in from private companies. leather seats, air con, reading lights, adjustible back rests and arm rests and they're clean too. and all for only 80 cents more than a dublin bus on the same journey.

i like to sit up the very front on the left hand side if possible. or as close to the front as possible. front is good, cos you can see everything.

Only if the bus is empty.. otherwise you'll be surrounded by women with kids and grannies.:p

Oh yeah on bendy busses I like to sit right down the very back when it's free.

Back left and on the LUAS , in one of the two single seats in the middle on the tram (think they only have them on the Green Line)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Bus: Upstairs, left hand side, about 5 from the front. (49/75/17/46A)
Luas Red Line: Anywhere I can get a seat!

Upstairs, on the right, 3 rows back from the stairs you get the pillar between the windows to rest your head and fall asleep on if needs be, also its rarely ever taken and its one of the last ones to get someone sitting beside you, the left ones always get people sitting beside them first!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 219 ✭✭f1refox

I sit in drivers sit. As I drive all you mad things around:D .

On the 27X: Back seat (no scary people on that bus)

Downstairs. Nothing worse than being upstairs if it gets filled with scumbags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 328 ✭✭Tiffany

One settles in the upstairs alcove. One would prefer downstairs, however it is impregnated rapidly by ancient ladies and gents who are incapacitated when it comes to ascending stairs. And one does not enjoy it when one of these ancient gargoyles huffs and puffs in an eternal struggle to park their derrières on the seating. It is unquestionable when one must ask them to relocate so one can disembark the transportation jalopy, as an infinity passes by and many a bus stop has flown past by the time the ancient mummy has ascended again. One also does not approve of the whiff of boiled vegetables and piped tobacco that protrudes from these bodies; it disturbs my locomotion pleasure.
However, in accordance with the upstairs vicinity, one also comes accross obstacles such as darling school children who board in their masses and insist on using their lungs to high capacity so as to deafen their fellow travelling customers. These little lilliputians also insist on repeating their favourite mobile telephone recordings to the enth degree (such examples include the Crazy Frog). We are also treated to the unseasoned individuals who engage in conversations with themselves and produce large amounts of mucus as they hack their throat to bits, proceeding to luminate their cigarettes for all to enjoy the lung-twisting air of smoke and tobacco.
One enjoys the enlightening journeys to and from one's education domicile each day, however.

    That is my seat, seriously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

upstairs of course, to avoid having to surrender ones seat to the aged, young, crippled, etc who swarm the lower deck. When upstairs it's the second seat from the front on the left for mise . That way, when you nod off, your head is nicely nestled against the rubber frame rather than cold juddery glass. Its a popular spot too

the corner turny caterpillar buses are alien to me and freak me out whenever i use them, where does one sit? where are the nearest doors? they're just not right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭D

Down the back, there is always room there, even on "full" buses. Plus you get a good view from the elevated position.
