Dancing for Sex

Ok I admit it,Pighead can't dance. But that is not why I don't understand dancing. I see people do it but I find it embarrassing myself. It's very hard for us lads to look good when dancing. If you know all the moves to the songs you get called a posing ninny and if you dont know all the moves, you look embarassing. Whereas girls, shake their booties and shove their boobies in your face and they're legends.

My question is, what do most people get out of it? As far as I can see the only reason we go dancing is to pick up / be picked up by chicks/lads.Ladies, if you ever see Pighead dancing in your general vicinity then he is basically saying "im thinking about having sexual intercourse with you."

Is dancing really just a mating ritual? Does that sum it up or does Pighead just not get the beautiful art form that is dancing?

    DubGuy agrees.

I too am like a gimp on the dance floor, however I am the guy who's too gee-eyed to notice, and gets told about it the next day :(

But yes. It is a mating ritual...which explains a lot really :(:(

I agree with you when I'm sober. Don't like it, can't do it. However when I'm drunk it's great craic and I get a little better at it. I don't think it's purely a mating ritual, but certainly is used as one more often than not. Normally it's just an excuse for guys to shove their crotches up against some random girl.

well I can dance... well no, not dance, more like make an ass of myself when I am sober, and I can't when I'm drunk...

I only dance to songs I like and it's just part of having a good night - enjoying the music. Beats sitting on my rear all night.

    Yep.

    Dancing is a mating ritual.
The way someone moves is a good indication of their health and fitness.

Some guy who doesn't dance very well, will look jerky and awkward.
Someone whose flexible, lively, with good dance moves will look very healthy and strong.... good turn on signals for the womenfolk.
Dancing also highlights any physical weaknesses easier.... eg. you can't hide the wobbly beer belly well.... excessive sweating, wheezing due to long term smoking, or the amount of beer you've consumed !

Getting up on the dance floor is a reasonable indication that you're single. So it can have its advantages.

    regards,
    Owen

Actually, it may shock men to find out a lot of girls dance just for the simple reason of having fun! have you never danced around your bedroom to a song you like?

As for the whole "mating ritual" stuff, while some girls to dance to try attract guys or whatever, plenty of non-single girls dance too!

It can actually be rather fun once youre not too self-conscious (which i usually am unless i have a bit of alcohol in me)

Lyrics featured below : "Safety Dance", "Pop goes the world"

    Men Without Hats

We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

Say, we can go where we want to, a place that they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind

    And we can dance

We can go when we want to, the night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise them with the victory cry

Say, we can act if we want to, if we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude or totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile

    Safety Dance
Say we can dance, we can dance
    Everything's out of control
We can dance, we can dance
They're doing it from pole to pole
We can dance, we can dance
    Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
    Everybody taken the chance

    The safety dance
    The safety dance
    The safety dance

We can dance if we want to, we've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it we are never going to lose it
And everything will work out right

Say, we can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
well they're no friend of mine

The 80's were the golden age of pop.
    Feel good about dancing.

I hear you DubGuy,Pighead was at a wedding last July where he was pulled into one of those dance circles, where everyone takes a turn showing their moves. I did the only thing I could think of, the Pighead shuffle, lying on the ground spinning in a circle yelling, "Yeeha Yeeha Yeeha." I thought I did an alright job, however, when I was finished I was only met with blank stares. On that note I called it a night.Lets just say it was breakfast for 1 the next morning

I'm a great dancer when I'm drunk! When I'm sober I'm usually quite self-conscious and I feel like a gobsh*te, but if I've got a bit of drink in me, I'm more relaxed and don't give a sh*t what people think.

Dave does be givin it socks on the dance floor! :D

I don't do it to attract the opposite sex either, would you believe it! I have a girlfriend, and she wouldn't appreciate me gettin stuck into random chicks... Besides, the chicks seem a little creeped out when Dave dances next to them :(

I usually go out with a big group of friends, so I don't end up dancing on my own at least. Although with the right amount of alcohol, I'd have no problem with that :)

So yeah, dancing is fun... I don't know "the moves" or anything, and I generally do the same thing for the whole song, but I still enjoy it, lol. I get really into my music with a bit of drink on me.

I dread to think of the amount of dancing I'd do if I were on acid or somethin!

I actually like dancing, both of the drunken variety and curiously enough swing dancing which i took up last summer. Tis usually a good laugh!

Crazymonkey tries to dance when he has drink on board, thinks he does a good job of it,,, But when sober thats a different story..

tbh the last thing I want to do when I've had a few drinks is start dancing around the place... especially not to the pure shíte they play in most places.
I think the whole idea of dancing just to impress the girls is pathetic, and I won't sink to it... they must dance for ME... I'll just sit and watch... marking them out of ten.

I enjoy dancing when im fairly drunk and in a nice club. It must be said though that these irish clubs play crap music :o .
Few drinks, good music and plenty of chicks on the dancefloor, i really enjoy it :). The dance scene here in ireland however is very different to what im used to, not really sure how to explain it but its just not "fun" orientated.

oh god the memories of those circles oh god!
    Ah twas fun!

Well Rack was one of the hyper young things to start up said circle at an 18/21st...
Well, the circle contained, a group of Rack's best friends, an ex of Rack's, ex's brother, mother and father, oh yes it did. Rack got stuck arm in arm with ex on one side and ex's mother on other side with ex's brother on direct opposite. A few of the lads had gone in and done their rather impressive little bootie shakin things, Rack looks up amidst a fit of laughter to see, ex's bro signalling her to go in the middle. Rack refuses profoundling, only for "bro" to come over grab her by the hips and drag her into the middle of the circle. All Rack can hear through music is "GO DOWN", Rack is shocked, but it turns out to be that hip swaying dance-y move thingy where one sways toward the ground... Anyway, from AN OUTSIDERS point of view, DOUGAL!, there was crotch grinding and to this day the piss is still been taken from poor Rack, for the "grindy grindy with the ex's brother".
    (Sorry guys)

Hell ya! Many's the morning I've woken up with a battered and bruised body and my neck feels like its been torn to shreds but moshings the best fun ever.

Me and my buddy tend to do the whole dance off thing. Usually starts with a double vodka and red bull and the imortal line "Dance off biatch" and we end up making asses of ourselves. We've more interested in having a laugh than seeing if women like us.
Another good one is the "Manc walk" like the stone roses.

You know? That song wasn't as safe to dance to as they claimed.

Personally I tend to exert far too much energy when I'm dancing... one time I had the bouncers in a night clubs ask me to stop dancing as I was causing the DJs CDs to skip.

Ugh... I was never good with this whole dancing thing. Just not my cup of tea... but yeah... if I have to dance, it would be something choreographed for a play or something; not just in a club or whatever...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,184 ✭✭✭✭Pighead

Pigheads inability to dance even remotely well has been an irritating problem for quite some time now. To think i’ve turned down plenty of pretty girl’s offers to dance based largely on embarrassment apprehension, and sheer ineptitude on the dance floor makes me want to vomit.
Dancing is without a doubt a major tool in the art of impressing the ladies.Look at Michael Flatley, average looking bloke, walks down the street without getting a second glance.Put a pair of dancing shoes on him,hes surrounded by a bevy of beauties before you can say tango foxtrot.Thats the power of dance(Absolutely NOTHING got to do with his money.)

Ah it's only a mating ritual as been said if that's all ur goin on the dancefloor for. When i'm out drunk or not when a few choons comes on i have to hit the dancefloor, feel the beat, couldn't care less what other people are doin, tis called a dancefloor for a reason. Nothin like a good rave:D

I like nothin more than a good boogie if Im in the mood, its not all about pulling. The odd night I dont fancy it, but most of the time I love nothin more than a stint on the dancefloor. Most of my mates are the same, we have specific dances for certain songs, call on me being the most memorable.

Well I love to dance, and I'm a guy. It just so much fun, it's as good as a workout or training, and can be a hell of a lot more fun. Plus the ladies don't seem to mind, I've had my fair share of compliments, some of them from actual dancers! God, I'm great, and incredably modest.

I hate dancing and nightclubs in general. I hate them with a passion. Unfortunately none of my friends agree and i end up at one every weekend which drives me scatty. Dancing is a bizarre mating ritual, but the opposite sexes refusal(in general) to accept it as so means there are no tried and tested rules to be followed, making it very difucult to succeed.

i havnt been for a good oul dance in the longest of times, i love havin a dance though, its not all about pulling, its about having a laugh.

one thing i cant stand is people standing on the side of the dancefloor & just looking p*ssed off/ trying to look cool, with their head going like a nodding dog.
